QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS SET 2
1. 1.3.1 General work. Given we will be working in one or two bays at a time, will the areas we are working in be cleared of workers for safety of all?
ANSWER: The Government will make every attempt to keep Government workers out of the Contractors moving work area.
2. 1.3.1 states to use conductor size based on load of 20A. I believe the NEC requires that the wire used on a 30A circuit breaker has to match the breaker rating. So #10 is required for 30A not #12THHN. Given we are not being asked to calculate the load on each circuit and reusing an existing circuit, should #10 be the standard for bidding purposes?
ANSWER: 1.3.1 states voltage drop calculated @20 amp load. All wiring will meet the current NEC.
3. 1.3.2 mentions that the fixtures must be “dimmable with dimmers installed”. Are we to install dimmer switches or does this refer to the fixture having dimming capability?
ANSWER: Fixtures will have having dimming capability. If the drivers are dimmed via a Programmer, the Government will retain the Programmer at the conclusion of the project. If the drivers are dimmed via a resistor, the Government will install the resistors.
4. 1.3.2 specs. The part number given does not follow the manufactures site cut sheet options, including DIM (dimming), VBY (hangers). Is PH supposed to be L for lumen package? No idea what the EDD is, what is that?
ANSWER: Contact the manufacturer listed in the SoW for any clarification as to their part number.
5. 1.3.2 also mentions required foot-candles. Since we are installing fixtures as shown, without photometric calculations, can we assume we are getting the foot candles that they put out without corrections included?
ANSWER: If the Contractor installs the listed LED light, the Contractor will meet the listed foot candles as listed.
6. 1.3.3 refers to voltage drop. We are installing conduit sized per NEC and conductors as shown #4 and #6 on the columns, we assume the drop has already been taken into account?
ANSWER: Correct. Install the size wire as listed and the Contractor will have meet the voltage drop for a 20 amp load.
7. 1.3.5 mentions equipment in place will not be moved. At the job walk, it was mentioned that anything other than fixed items would be moved by SIAD personnel to create working space, is this correct?
ANSWER: Correct. The Government will work with the Contractor to move material out of the way. The Contractor will have to work around some obstacles and material. A totally clear floor/work-area may not be obtainable.
8. 1.3.6 noted that the employees will “attempt” to stay out of the way in our work area. Given we are all responsible for safety, will the bay or two we are working in be clear to prevent accidents?
ANSWER: This question is also part of question #1&7. The Government will make every attempt to stay out of the Contractors moving work area. A totally clear bay may not be obtainable.
9. 1.3.7 recycling. Just confirming per the job walk that the bins and boxes needed to recycle will be available at one central area where we will be deconstructing the fixtures and that an area will be set aside for this?
ANSWER: Correct. The set aside area may be outside (exposed to the weather) area.
10. 1.3.12 MDP. Clarifying that the MDP is existing. The existing breakers are rated at 65kaic. Is the new breaker to feed the new panel E to be 225A and rated the same 65kaic?
ANSWER: Correct.
11. 1.3.12 Panel E. Is this panel to be rated Panelboard at 20kaic including the 225A MCB?
ANSWER: Correct and any breakers feeding circuits out of panel E.
12. 1.3.14 Ice Machine. The drawing does not show the location of the machine or notes where the Receiving Office is. Could you add a sheet or sketch that verifies this location?
ANSWER: The ice machine will be located outside the restrooms where the outlets are shown to be installed. It is drawing #308-15-04259.
13. Drawings for Bldg. 358, 310, 306 and 308 show a Motion symbol. The drawing does not show that symbol being used. Are these removed from the project?
ANSWER: Correct. Motion sensors were removed from this Lighting project.
