AMENDMENT 0002

CHANGES TO THE SPECIFICATIONS:

a. Specification Section 01 45 00.15 10 RESIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM CONTRACTOR, Paragraph

1.4 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS, MINIMUM RMS SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS TABLE: The third item, Microsoft.NET Framework, under the Software heading is no longer required and has therefore been deleted.

b. Specification Section 01 45 04.00 13 CONTRACTOR QUALITY CONTROL, Paragraph 3.1 GENERAL

REQUIREMENTS: All references to “site project superintendent” have been replaced with CQC System Manager. The updated paragraph is as follows:

3.1 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

The Contractor is responsible for quality control and shall establish and maintain an effective quality control system in compliance with Contract Clause 52.246-12 Inspection of Construction. The quality control system shall consist of plans, procedures, and organization necessary to produce an end product which complies with the contract requirements. The system shall cover all construction operations, both onsite and offsite, and shall be keyed to the proposed construction sequence. The CQC system manager will be held responsible for the quality of work on the job and is subject to removal by the Contracting Officer for non-compliance with the quality requirements specified in the contract. The CQC system manager in this context shall be the highest level manager responsible for the overall construction activities at the site, including quality and production. The CQC system manager shall maintain a physical presence at the site at all times, except as otherwise acceptable to the Contracting Officer, and shall be responsible for all construction and construction related activities at the site.

c. Specification Section 03 60 70.00 LOW DENSITY CELLULAR CONCRETE FOR GROUTING

GUIDEWALL CRIBS, Paragraph 2.4.5 Water: This paragraph has been revised to clarify that the Contractor is responsible for supplying water for mixing and curing and that water is not available from the locks and dams sites. The revised paragraph is as follows:

2.4.5 Water

Provide all water required for mixing and curing. Water from the locks and dams sites is not available for use by the Contractor. Water for mixing and curing must be fresh, clean, potable, and free of injurious amounts of oil, acid, salt, or alkali, and meet the requirements of COE CRD-C 400. Do not use river water.

d. Specification Section 03 60 70.00 LOW DENSITY CELLULAR CONCRETE FOR GROUTING

GUIDEWALL CRIBS, 3.3.2 Underwater Placement of Low Density Cellular Concrete, b. Vertical Placement: This paragraph has been revised to state that vertical placement of core holes for Locks and Dams 8 and 9 must be located to avoid the post tensioning cables embedded in the guidewalls. The revised paragraph is as follows:

b. Vertical Placement - Place material through core holes drilled through the existing concrete monoliths.

Establish a coring pattern per monolith to optimize the placement of low density cellular concrete. Do not space the core holes more than 20 feet laterally along the length of each guidewall. At Locks and Dams 8 and 9 locate core holes to avoid post tensioning cables located within the guidewalls.

e. Specification Section 03 60 70.00 LOW DENSITY CELLULAR CONCRETE FOR GROUTING GUIDEWALL CRIBS, Third paragraph of 3.6.6 Final Inspection: This paragraph has been revised to clarify that the random core samples are to be drilled horizontally and that locations of coring are to be determined by the Contracting Officer. The revised paragraph is as follows:

Complete a minimum of 8 horizontal core samples per wall (16 per site) at locations determined by the Contracting Officer to verify the placement of the low density cellular concrete. Conduct the final inspection for coring the low density cellular concrete a minimum of 28 days after placement and in accordance with ASTM C42/C42M. The cores must have the minimum diameter of 2-1/2", and minimum depth of 12". Test three cores from each wall (6 per site) for compressive strength in accordance with ASTM C39/C39M. Label each core with the coring date, placement date, guidewall, and location. Fill the cores holes with a high viscosity, moisture tolerant, epoxy grout as specified.

f. Specification Section 03 60 70.00 LOW DENSITY CELLULAR CONCRETE FOR GROUTING

GUIDEWALL CRIBS, Paragraph 1.1 REFERENCES: Reference ASTM D6103 has been added to this paragraph to address flow consistence requirements for the low density cellular concrete. The added reference is as follows:

ASTM D6103 (2004) Standard Test Method for Flow Consistency of

Controlled Low Strength Material (CLSM)

g. Specification Section 03 60 70.00 LOW DENSITY CELLULAR CONCRETE FOR GROUTING GUIDEWALL CRIBS, Paragraph 2.2 GENERAL LOW DENSITY CELLULAR CONCRETE REQUIREMENTS: A sentence has been added at the end of the first paragraph of 2.2 to address flowability requirements. The paragraph has been revised as follows:

2.2 GENERAL LOW DENSITY CELLULAR CONCRETE REQUIREMENTS

Low density cellular concrete must meet the requirements of ACI 523.3R. Low density cellular concrete must be composed of a cementitious material, water, fine aggregates, and admixtures. The minimum average compressive strength at 28 days must not be less than 500 pounds per square inch. Proportion low density cellular concrete for a minimum wet (as cast) density between 90 and 100 pcf. Materials must meet the requirements of the respective publications and other data specified below. The w/cm of low density cellular concrete must be 0.45 to 0.60 to ensure internal stability of the cellular structure. Flowability of the low density cellular concrete shall be greater than 8 inches in diameter with no noticeable segregation when measured in accordance to ASTM D6103.
