RFI'S AMENDMENT 2
QUESTION 1: At the site visit it was indicated that the Army Corps would be open to alternate locations for the new tank. Please confirm that a location closer to the existing Well House building will be acceptable.
ANSWER: Yes. A location closer to the Well House is acceptable.
QUESTION 2: If a new location for the new tank is agreed upon, closer to the existing Well House, will it be acceptable to bury the existing tank foundation rather than removing and disposing of the existing concrete foundation?
ANSWER: The tank foundation could be broken up and buried as long as there are two feet of top soil over it and it has been compacted to prevent excessive settling.
QUESTION 3: During the site visit the Corps representatives indicated that, to their knowledge, there are no
Existing Hazardous Materials (asbestos, lead pant etc.) to be demolished, removed and disposed of. Should our bid assume no disposal, abatement, or remediation of Hazardous Materials?
ANSWER: The tank was installed in 1989, so it was not included in the project Asbestos Plan. It was tested for lead in 2008, which came back negative and was then repainted.
QUESTION 4: Please provide the Sign In list from the Site Visit.
ANSWER:
QUESTION 5: What is the size and the material (PVC, Stainless Steel, Carbon steel) and the Class of the current piping running between the well house and the tank? Is the Corps of Engineers satisfied with the flow rates that this produces?

ANSWER: The Blueprints state that the inflow pipe is 1.5 inches and the return pipe is 3 inch. Blueprint does not state the Class of pipe or material used for either the inflow or return pipe. After consulting with the operators it is determined that flow rates were sufficient.
QUESTION 6: What is the size and the material and the Class of the current piping running from the water tank and hooked into the distribution network to the user stations? Is the Corps of Engineers satisfied with the flow rates that this produces?
ANSWER: The Blueprints state that the inflow pipe is 1.5 inches and the return pipe is 3 inch. Blueprint does not state the Class of pipe or material used for either the inflow or return pipe. After consulting with the operators it is determined that flow rates were sufficient. Supply pipes running from the Well House to user stations is not being replaced and not covered by this solicitation.
QUESTION 7: To assist in selecting the precise location for the new water tank, are there any soil analysis/boring reports available?
ANSWER: Original soil analysis for the existing water tank is available.
QUESTION 8: The scope of work states that the Contractor is responsible for coordinating access to the site the
"the property owner". Does this refer to the USACE or some other party?
ANSWER: USACE is the property owner.
QUESTION 9: Is the Solicitation for a water tank of exactly 25,000 gallons or is a somewhat larger water tank acceptable? Is this 25,000 useable gallons or a 25,000 gallon capacity?
ANSWER: As covered in the site visit, the proposed water tank could be of smaller capacity (MINIMUM 20,000
GL) or larger in capacity (NOT TO EXCEED 32,000 GL).
QUESTION 10: What is the height of the existing fence around the existing water tank? Does the height include the barbed wire atop the fence? Is a similar height suitable to USACE?
ANSWER: Total height of security fence is 7 foot, this includes the offset arms for the barbed wire. New fence should be of same height or greater.
QUESTION 11: Can Contractor propose a concrete slab upon which to place the foundation and the new water tank in order to provide greater ground clearance?
ANSWER: Any concrete slab or foundation should be designed in accordance to the proposed water tank.
