RFI QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

FOR INFORMMATION ONLY (FIO)

CHEMICAL BUILDING ROADWAY IMPROVEMENTS

WASHINGTON AQUEDUCT, WASHINGTON, D.C.

June 08, 2016

Question No. 1: Addendum #3 added a new area for remove and replacing concrete pavement which is located inside the building. At the Site Visit we were unaware of this work being added and did not take any pictures of the location. Can a few pics be provided showing the doorway access, the work area, the catch basin/trench drains and the aluminum hatch area?

Answer No. 1: All relevant information has been provided. Please provide your bid pricing based on the information as shown in the contract drawings

Question No. 2: Addendum #3 added drawing Plate 12. Detail 15 shows a 1'3" thick area 8' wide below the new pavement. What is this? Is it continuous throughout the area where concrete is to be removed and replaced? Is it to be removed? Was it poured monolithically with the existing concrete pavement??

Answer No. 2: This is addressed in amendment no. 4. The 15” concrete slab is separated by a construction joint from the new slab and is not to be removed. With the exception of the location of the alum hatch, it is continuous.

Question No. 3: Addendum #3 added drawing Plate 12. In the note section, Note 1 indicates we are replacing the frame and grate for the trench drain. Note 3 indicates it should be a complete new trench drain system. Please confirm which is correct.

Answer No. 3: All relevant information has been provided. The entire trench drain system is not being replaced.

Question No. 4: Addendum #3 added drawing Plate 12 the plan view at the bottom shows a drainage system from the trench drain/catch basins draining towards the chemical facility driveway. Are we to install new or leave as is?

Answer No. 4: This is addressed in amendment no. 4. The drainage system is to remain.

Question No. 5: Addendum #3 added Plate 12. Please confirm we can access the work area from both the Access Driveway and the Chemical Facility driveway.

Answer No. 5: Confirmed.

Question No. 6: Addendum #3 modified Plate 13. In the plan view "New Emergency Ext

Eyewash/Shower Chemical Building and Carbon Facility Locations" - now shows an "Exst

Storage Shed (to be relocated)". Is the contractor responsible to relocate? If so what is dimensions, construction material of shed? Has it been constructed in a way that we can use a fork lift to pick it up and move? Is there any electrical connected to it? Where does it get relocated to and is there any concrete or stone pad that we need to install? Please provide pictures if Contractor has to relocate.

Answer No. 6: This is addressed in amendment no. 4. All work related to the existing storage shed has been removed from the contract.

Question No. 7: Addendum #3 modified Plate 13. In the area of "Exst Storage Shed" the detail indicates that new Concrete Driveway would be placed there. Is this correct? If so what is existing there that would need to be removed to install new Concrete?

Answer No. 7: Existing storage shed has been removed from the contract. Loading dock repairs shall be as shown in plate 12.

Question No. 8: During the site visit it was pointed out that there are areas that have weight restrictions. According to the signs on the facility we are limited to 5 tons. Please confirm that applies only to the following two areas: Base Bid - Existing Backwash Pumping Station - affects concrete pavement in front of Chlorine Building and asphalt mill and resurface in Parking Lot

#3. And in Option 1 - 15MG Clear Water Basin - affects concrete curb in front of visitor center and the mill and resurface of same. We could not find this in the bid documents.

Answer No. 8: There are no weight restrictions in parking lot #3. Weight restrictions are only where shown and as indicated in the drawings.
