Reference Section 01 57 19 TEMPORARY ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS paragraph

MIGRATORY BIRDS AND THREATENED AND ENDANGERED SPECIES.

When earliest permitted under Federal Law, under the BASE and OPTION CLINs "Repair 3 Adjacent Tainter Gates", the Contractor shall remove all Swallow nests and other bird nests from concrete, steel, and other areas that could prevent, hinder, or pause construction operations awarded in the BASE and could be awarded in this contract (as identified by OPTIONS) throughout the dam's spillway. This work shall occur as required throughout the duration of the project, and should be anticipated to occur during each winter season. The removal of the migratory bird nests may begin after the swallows migrate from the area in the fall, and must be completed before the swallows arrive in the spring. A visual observation shall occur by the contractor to ensure all migratory birds have migrated from the area prior to nest removal. No active nests may be removed. An active nest is one in which eggs have been deposited and/or chicks are present.

Section: 35 20 20

All splices shall be in accordance with NFPA 70. Make all splices in AWG No. 8 and smaller with approved insulated electrical type indenter crimp-type connectors and compression tools. Splices shall be wrapped with an insulating tape that has an insulation and temperature rating equivalent to that of the conductor. For splices into existing wire, the Contractor shall properly clean the connection point of the existing conductor of any impurities prior to performing the splice. Make splices in conductors No. 8 AWG and larger diameter with solderless connector, and cover with insulation material equivalent to conductor insulation.
