3.1 BUILDING 200 - DECC SAN ANTONIO

1) General

(a) The original 1982 design of Building 200 had a building area of approximately 70,000 square feet. A 1991 design expanded the building by approximately 25,000 square feet. Current building area is approximately 95,000 square feet.

(b) The 1982 building design used variable air volume air handling units for office space heating and cooling. The 1991 building design used multizone air handling units for office space heating and cooling. Data center heating and cooling is provided using Computer Room Air Conditioning units with heat rejection to the chilled water system.

(c) The 1982 Building 200 central plant included a 304 ton chiller, a 399 ton chiller, a 910 gpm cooling tower, a 1200 gpm cooling tower and one 1500 MBH boiler. The 1991 Building 200 central plant included two 140 ton chillers, two 420 gpm cooling towers and one 866 MBH boiler. The 1982 central plant appears to perform as the critical systems whereas the 1991 appears to perform as the non-critical system.

(d) A project in 2009 modified the central plant. Currently there are two (2) 700 ton, 1680 gpm chillers with two (2) associated 700 ton, 2100 gpm cooling towers that supply chilled water to the majority of the building. There is one (1) 150 ton air-cooled chiller that supports the administration areas of the building.
