QUESTIONS

Please note. The period for question submission has closed.

1. Does the laboratory or sub-laboratory used for the Nevada Mining Methods also have to hold DoD accreditation? I am having difficulty finding a lab that holds both accreditations at the same facility.

DoD Accreditation Bodies (ABs) do not provide accreditation for the Nevada Mining Methods. DoD accreditation is based on the methods in the DoD QSM. The State of NV certifies the Nevada Mining Methods, and only the NV certification would be required. Note the State of NV has its own independent certification program separate from DoD ELAP and TNI NELAP.

2. If a lab holds DoD accreditation for a specialty analysis such as 1630 or 1631E in Fish Tissue, but does not hold State Accreditation, will the DoD accreditation suffice?

The DoD accreditation is acceptable.

3. Is it acceptable if a lab holds state accreditation for a specialty analysis such as EPA 600/4-90/027E, but the lab is not DoD certified?

The state accreditation for specialty methods such as the bioassay method example cited is acceptable. DoD accreditation is based on the methods in the DoD QSM. Note DoD QSM accreditation is required for any methods covered under the DoD QSM.
