QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Question and Answer

Q53. I need help interpreting the portion of the spec below. Section 40 95 00, Para 1.6. I do not believe we as a supplier to the contractor would have to be officially recognized as a “Rockwell Automation Recognized Systems Integrator”. The Contractor's qualified control system integrator shall provide evidence they have worked with and installed Rockwell Automation RSLogix5000 programming software for at least the past five years. The Contractor performing the software and PLC upgrades shall submit evidence they are officially recognized by Rockwell Automation as a Rockwell Automation Recognized Systems Integrator. The way I read it the “contractor” will have to be a “Rockwell Automation Recognized Systems Integrator”. We would be a supplier to the contractor. As a supplier to the contractor we would be the “contractors qualified control system integrator” and that entity has to provide evidence that they have worked with and installed Rockwell automation RSLogix5000 programming software for at least the past five years. Is my interpretation correct?

A53. Intent is to have the entity performing the software and PLC upgrades submit evidence they are officially recognized by Rockwell Automation as a Rockwell Automation Recognized Systems Integrator. Changed Section 40 95 00, 1.6 Qualifications, second sentence to read “The Contractor’s qualified control system integrator performing the software and PLC upgrades shall submit evidence they are officially recognized by Rockwell Automation as a Rockwell Automation Recognized Systems Integrator.”

The prime contractor is permitted to use a subcontractor/supplier that meets these requirements.

The prime contractor is responsible for providing this information to the United States Army Corps of Engineers.

Q54. Can you provide me with a reference part for the fiber optic cable, as you have with the breakout panels and whether the terminations must be polished in the field or if a pre-polished spliced type connector can be used?

A54. Actual part numbers are provided for reference only. Fiber Optic Cables shall meet the specification requirements in Specification Section 27 21 10.00 10. Fiber Optic Connections shall be as specified in Specification Section 27 21 10.00 10, 2.6 - FO Connectors.
