QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS - 2
Solicitation: W911WN‐15‐T‐0030 Project: Hydraulic Pump Systems with Structural Steel Support Frames
Questions and Answers ‐ 2
Q1. I do not see where motor starters are called out to be supplied in the spec but I see them on the pictures of old unit. Are they to be included?
A1. Yes, motor starters suitable for use with the specified motors are to be included.
Q2. Is hydraulic oil to be included? Only mention of oil is where it calls out the existing type.
A2. Hydraulic oil is not to be included; the hydraulic oil required for operation will be added by Government personnel once the HPUs are installed. However, the Contractor must supply any and all fluids for shop tests required by the Specification.
Q3. Refer to Specifications – Paragraph 2.1.2.2 Capacity
a. Can the USACE advise if the two installed 70 gpm pumps on each power unit will be operated individually or simultaneously?
b. Will the power units ever be used to provide a total flow of 140 GPM (the output of both pumps combined) to the lock cylinders, or will one pump/motor group serve as a standing spare (backup)?
A3. The two pump/motor groups on each power unit may be operated individually or simultaneously based on operational considerations, so HPUs should be designed for simultaneous operation of the pump/motor groups.
Q4. Please advise if Single phase Converters running 3 phase motors is acceptable?
A4. No. The Contractor should supply the single phase motors as requested.
(Note: We have contacted and verified that a major motor manufacturer can supply 20 HP single phase motors for our application.)
Q5. How much 230 VAC single phase service (AMPS) is available on site?
W911WN-15-T-0030
A5. The service at each site can accommodate the requested single phase motors.
