Question and Answer #1

When reviewing the solicitation I did have one question I was hoping you could clarify before submitting the quote:

On the top of Page 2 it states "A mechanism to level the bolsters when new molds are placed into the press, preventing off center loading. An automated system is preferable."

Is this a mechanism that will automatically center the mold so that no off center loading can occur?
Or
Is this a mechanism that will automatically level the bolsters if the mold were to be off centered?

Answer:

We want to level the bolsters once the mold is in place. The mold will never be off center because we can fairly easily place the mold into the press and center it manually with high accuracy. We would like the "static" bolster to be leveled once the mold is in place to ensure, when the mold halves close, they are closing parallel and not at some slightly askew angle. For example, our current press allows for this manually by adjusting large bolts on the 4 posts that hold the "static" bolster in place. The problem with the large bolts is it is very difficult to ensure they are all tightened to the same extent, having some kind of automatic mechanism to ensure this leveling is completed could provide improvements.
