Please confirm that all metal wall panels on the parapet walls are to be removed to provide a continuous coping detail around all the parapet walls.

Reference: sheet C-103

Key Note 1 on sheet C-103 directs us to 3/C-505, however there is not a plan sheet C-505 provided. Please provide. Additionally, please clarify if the entire parking lot is to be fully depth repaired.

I am reaching out with a question regarding project #AD014784P, conversion of building 12005. I noticed on the drawings furniture is not on the bid. Will there be a separate bid for furniture for the building? Is there a specific person I can contact regarding furniture for this project?

10.14.02.1.3 states, “Interior signage shall be provided for all rooms identified on plans.” Are we to

“assume/guess” what signage and types that are needed?

If 2B Signs is to create a schedule, what are we to use as a reference? Proposal Floor Plan - Room Finish Schedule -

Door Schedule etc……

After reviewing the drawings, I noticed that there is not any Electronic Access Control, Video Surveillance or

Intrusion Systems in the scope of work -- is this something that you are looking for?

The specs call for every type of sprinkler possible, the design drawings call for just a dry system, however this building is conditioned, so a dry system is not needed. What is correct?

If we are putting are dry pipe sprinkler system in; are we installing a nitrogen system to ensure the longevity of the system?

Are we going to use the existing underground, or is new underground going to be brought in for the fire sprinkler?

Are we using Mechanical room 160 or mechanical room 170 for the fire sprinkler riser?

If we are using the existing underground for the fire sprinkler (Room 160), is the PIV going to be changed prior to work beginning as it leaks by badly?

What is the proposed/desired location of the Fire Alarm Control Panel?

The specification section 28 31 76 paragraph 2.22.2 is calling for red strobes for fire alarm and white strobes for mass notification. Current UFC 04-021-01 calls for a single strobe white with Alert markings on it. Which is correct for this project?

: Is there an Abatement/Asbestos Survey?

The VAV Box Control Detail (Drawing M 701) show that there is a Differential Pressure Sensor on the Hot Water

Supply and Return. The Vendor is asking what is it for, does the end user want them and if so, do they want them installed on all VAV’s?

Confirm TAB will be required for all new equipment and associated air devices?

Confirm Commissioning will be required for all new equipment and associated air devices?

Confirm if DALT testing of any kind will be required for any new duct work that is used to place back AHUs?

Will concrete testing be required for any new concrete placed for mechanical pads? Please specify which tests are required.

Please confirm that the existing utilities (electrical, gas, water) need upgrades performed by privatized utilities

(Dominion, AMWater) to appropriately accommodate the new equipment?

Engineering & Surveying

Are as-built drawings available for this building?

Is a temporary fence surrounding the project required?

10. There appears to be a black mastic at the existing slab where VCT once was installed. Also, the existing paint on the existing structural columns at the interior, and the existing handrails at the exterior appear to have lead paint. Is there a Hazardous material survey available for this building?

The drawings indicate to sandblast in several areas (louvers, handrails, columns). Can a chemical painter stripper be used in lieu of sandblasting?

Page A-101 shows a wall type B4 that separates the mechanical room from the building interior. Page A-501 does not show details for a wall type B4. Please provide details for wall type B4.

13. At the site visit, the mechanical room wall was observed as not being fire-rated. There appeared to be a gap at the top of the wall between the top of CMU and the bottom of roof decking. Will the mechanical room wall need to be fire rated as part of this project? If so, how many hours?

No openings exist at the existing mechanical room wall for ductwork. Will new penetrations be needed for the new ductwork from the mechanical room to the interior space? If so, can details be provided for ductwork openings?

Pages D-101 and A-701 state to apply a self-leveler to even out the existing floor of the interior. Can specifications be given for a type of self-leveler required to achieve this? For example, what is the required compressive strength for the self-leveler? Will a primer be required? Without conditioned air, it will be uncertain if moisture will be present in the existing slab. Will a vapor barrier(recommended) be required as well?

Does the existing slab contain mud-beds where ceramic tile was once installed? If so, will mud-beds be required to get demo’d completely, or just self-leveler over existing?

Page P-101, Note #4 states that all piping shall be insulated with fiberglass insulation and PVC jacketing. The specifications state that PVC jacketing is only required in walkways and high traffic areas. Will PVC jacketing be required throughout? Or only in walkways and high traffic areas?

Yes, refer to project specifications.

Refer to sheet S-001 and Project Specifications for concrete testing frequency and requirements.

Refer to notes 1 and 2 on sheet C-102. Privatized utility partners are aware of scoping requirements.

Hazardous material survey will be provided as "Technical Exhibit D".

Procurement of furniture is not included in this solicitation.

Refer to division specifications for signage requirements.

Reference project specifications and contract drawings for signage location requirements.

Bids submitted by contractors shall only include scope identified in contract drawings and specifications.

See sheet F-101 in Revision 2 Drawings. F-501 has been removed. The intent is to have a new wet pipe system. It will be the reponsibility of the contractor to secure a new design and construction drawings through a third party fire protection engineer. The shop drawings shall be signed and sealed by an engineer licensed in the state of Texas.

Refer to response to RFI #7.

Contractor to replace all underground piping downstream of exisitng PIV.

It is the intent that mechanical room 160 would house the fire system riser. Re-use the existing slab penetration.

DPW has recently submitted a work order for AW to troubleshoot (and potentially replace) the PIV. If it is replaced, DPW will strive to have AW replace it before work begins on the fire system.

Reference sheet E-103 for Fire Alarm Control Panel location.

Reference Sheet F-101 in Revision 2 Drawings. Contract Drawings will follow Current UFC Requirements.

Yes, refer to project specifications.

Yes, refer to project specifications.

The existing walls that are to remain for new mechanical room #160 are in very poor shape (studs are rusty or missing entirely, half of the bottom plate is missing.) Will these walls be required to get patched up or rebuilt entirely(recommended)?

The solicitation does not show anything about a tapered insulation plan, only on the drawing needs clarification on what thickness and idea that will be required?

The plans call for a full tear off and install of a new Built-Up Roof system tar and gravel, but the solicitation shows that the system would be a recover with a TPO roof system 40 mil thick and fan fold insulation. . Is this correct?

The typical recover for Ft Hood is a PVC roof system with a 1/2-inch Dens Deck cover board for a recover or a full tear off with new poly iso and then the cover board and the 60 mil PVC.

Are the metal wall sections on top of the parapet walls being removed to make the parapet wall flush with the rest of the parapet wall?

Are all existing roof penetrations being removed from the roof?

The drawings are for a completely different roof system with different edge details. Can we get a clarification on what is required for an edge detail? Coping cap, Fascia bar and cover?

The revised drawings show there are EXTERIOR signage / graphics on Sheet A-301. The specifications provided include INTERIOR signage as listed in SPECIFICATION SECTION 10.14.02.1.3; “Interior signage shall be provided for all rooms identified on plans.” Please advise if this project is for exterior signage only, or if this is an interior and exterior signage project?

Page D-101, Structural note S1 states to demolish the existing beams. At the site-visit, there were 2 square tubing runs from column to column at this area, 1 at roughly 3’ high, and the other 1 at roughly 4’ high. Are these the beams in reference to the note?

Page C-102 shows typical grading and sodding at the existing loading dock area. It is unclear if the existing sidewalk, handrails, and pavement are to be demo’d prior to placing backfill and sod. Will this demo be required?

Page C-102, Note 3 shows a cellar door to be installed at the existing crawl space entry. Can details/specifications be provided for this cellar door?

Is the depth of the existing crawl space known?

There is an existing concrete pad at the existing electrical room (to be turned into mech room 160). Will this pad be required to be demo’d?

Page C-103, keynote #1 states to see details on page C-505. No page C-505 is provided. Will page C-505 be provided?

At areas to receive the “cloud” ceilings, will it be required to paint the visible construction (decking, structural steel, duct work etc.) beyond the cloud ceiling? If so, what color?

Page D-201, the red area states to install brick veneer in what is assumed to be the existing opening that is filled with galvanized sheet metal. The west end of the building has 2 additional openings like the one just described that are filled with galvanized sheet metal but are not marked on these drawings. Sheet D-101 shows to patch these 2 openings with CMU. Will these 2 openings on the west end require brick veneer?

33. Preserving the parapet brick will require cleaning and removing the existing mortar which will likely become more costly than using new brick. Would like to note that new brick is highly unlikely to match the existing. Can new brick be used in lieu of using the preserved brick from the parapet demo?

New openings into the exterior brick veneer on the North end of the building will need shoring at 2 areas while demoing prior to filling back in with brick. Will this shoring require engineering?

What type of material will the 5 columns at the Dumpster Enclosure be made of? Brick, Split face CMU, Grey

CMU, or Grey CMU with thin rock? The cap, Native Stone or Precast stone?

In the door schedule, no details given for door 128A at the new comms vault. Please provide details for door

128A.

Room 128A shows a comms vault surrounded with concrete walls and ceiling. Will these walls and ceiling require an engineering, or engineered stamped shop drawings for submittal?

The ceramic tile called out in the drawings is asking for Crossville products. Will an equivalent or better product be acceptable?

Can the gauge thickness requirements be provided for framing details shown on page A-501?

Will non-structural framing 25-gauge members be acceptable for framing that is not to be constructed to structure above?

Will stamped engineered drawings be required for any of the partition wall framing? Or will the manufacturers detail shop drawings suffice?

All metal wall panels on the parapet walls are to be removed to provide a continuous coping detail around all the parapet walls. Is this correct?

Please provide specifications for the epoxy terrazzo flooring.

What is the mix design for the epoxy terrazzo flooring?

Is there is epoxy terrazzo base on this project? If so, please provide the height and if it is precast or integral?

There is no section for Terrazzo Flooring in the specs. Would any be provided, or we just use the standard Corp of engineer’s specs we used in previous projects?

Proposal will be based on the usage of TERRAZZCO Brand Products by Concord Terrazzo Company. Please advise if otherwise.

In the room finish schedule, no base is indicated at the areas to receive Terrazzo. Please advise if Terrazzo base will be required and what is the profile and height.

In vestibule 100, there is a logo in the Terrazzo. Details are required to be able to price it.

What is the current finish in the areas to receive Terrazzo? Concrete Substrate is required below Terrazzo

Will there need to be removal of the current floor and/or any adhesive removal?

What is the schedule for this installation?

Will there be any upgrade to the building OSP copper and fiber?

Will there be a Division 27 10 00 and 33 82 00 added to the specifications?

Will there be a requirement for contractor to provide the Juniper Network Switches

Is there a project manager I can talk to regarding the project

How about security to get into the base? Most of the work for the defense contractors require US Citizens only, is it this the case for Ft. Hood also. Do all get background check?

What is the schedule for this project?

Is there a list of preferred subcontractors that are already working at the base?

Is all the work to be price to work during regular working hours

I assume, that work at Ft. Hood is tax exempt, correct?

Is it possible to do a walk through of the site?

Bid Inquiry #1 Roller Shades – Technical Exhibit B – Specifications (pg. 458) Clarifications 1-3 Clarification

#1 section "2.1.1 Light Filtering

Shades"

It lists as one of the requirements the roller shade box to be at or under 2.5"

I believe this is a mistake (that is for venetian blinds)

For roller shades it is typically 3" or 4".

in this project, I would recommend 4" because you have a few large windows.

Clarification #2 section "2.1.1 Light Filtering Shades"

It used the term "light filtering" and Solar openness factor of 7%-9% is required.

The typical fabrics are 1%, 3%, 5%, 10%. I could try to look for something around 7% as requested.

But my experience in Texas tells me a 5% will be the correct translucent factor.

You can see out nicely, but you get the right level of solar protection.

Clarification #3

Windows are bronze - we can do the roller shades fascias/valances in Bronze

Bid Inquiry #2: It is our understanding that all metal wall panels on the parapet walls are to be removed to provide a continuous coping detail around all the parapet walls. Is this correct?

Bid Inquiry #3: Sprinklers 1-5 1. The specs call for every type of sprinkler possible, the design drawings call for just a dry system, however this building is conditioned, so a dry system is not needed. What is correct?

2. If we are putting are dry pipe sprinkler system in are we installing a nitrogen system to ensure the longevity of the system?

3. Are we going to use the existing underground, or is new underground going to be brought in for the fire sprinkler?

4. Are we using Mechanical room 160 or mechanical room 170 for the fire sprinkler riser?

5. If we are using the existing underground for the fire sprinkler, is the PIV going to be changed prior to work beginning as it leaks by badly?

Bid Inquiry #4: Fire Alarm 1-2 1. What is the proposed/desired location of the Fire Alarm Control Panel?

2. The specification section 28 31 76 paragraph 2.22.2 is calling for red strobes for fire alarm and white strobes for mass notification. Current UFC 04-021-01 calls for a single strobe white with Alert markings on it. Which is correct for this project?

Bid Inquiry #5: In lieu of sand blasting structural steel can we use a chemical peal?

Bid Inquiry #6: During the site walk we noticed the some damaged structural steel at the bottom of the roof truss connections. Will those require repair or replacement during this scope of work?

The revised drawings show there are EXTERIOR signage / graphics Sheet A-301, “Interior signage shall be provided for all rooms identified on plans.” Are we to “assume/guess” what signage and types that are needed?

A-301- In Picture 1 and 2 there is a note 6 that we cannot find what it is referring too. Please advise.

A-601, Room finish Schedule seems to be lacking color selection information and in some cases floor types.

Please advise.

A-601, Room finish Schedule In the comms room/vault it calls for GWB and paint, is that correct?

Do the solar panels need to be reinstalled or returned for storage?

Do the windows frames need to be ballistic and calculations provided?

Per Print E-601, the Electrical Panel Schedules show all to be in a NEMA 3R enclosure. Is this correct?

Print E-103 Room 170 shows the disconnects to be NEMA 1 rating but all the electrical panels are to be NEMA

3R. Can be confirmed?

Will the CT Cabinet and Meter Cabinet enclosures need to be NEMA 1 or NEMA 3R rated?

Will there need to be cable tray or other specifications needed for communications?

Is SIPR part of this project?

1. Sheet C-502 site preparation note S2 directs to lime stabilize equipment pads. This is an extremely inefficient method and will cost a lot of money please consider additional base in lieu of lime stabilization.

2. Sheet C-102 keynote 6 calls for 8-inch concrete slab. Please provide a complete section for base and or subgrade requirements for this slab, if required.

3. Sheet C-102 keynote 6 calls for an 8-inch concrete slab. Please specify limits and location of this 8-inch concrete.
