1. Drawing S‐401 Details 1 & 2, show removal of 6” of soil and installation of an EPDM pond liner, 6” of fill material and a 2nd EPDM pond liner. What bunker locations require this new liner installation if any?
Answer: This will be required on all earth formed bunkers associated with this project.
2. Drawing S‐401 Note 1, On the site visit we did not stop and look at the 12 bunker locations (92178‐92190) that require us to grade the existing swales for drainage. Can we have a 2nd site visit to look at these bunker locations?
Answer: No, a second site visit will NOT be conducted.
3. Drawing C‐001 Note 18, On the 18 ECM bunkers (92101‐92119 etc.) covered by local topography we need to know if the vent stacks are lightning protected. Also are any as‐built drawings available?
Answer: As-built drawings are not available for this site.
4. Please confirm all 63 bunkers locations get new lightning protection systems?
Answer: There are several ECM’s mentioned in sheet E-101, E-102, E-103 and E-104 that are earth covered by the local topography. The LPS shall be designed and installed by the contractor. there are 18 of these and they are from ECM number 92101 to 92119 exclude building 92102 and building 92126. The rest will receive a new LPS. Contractor shall be responsible for providing a third party certification for each LPS.
5. Can we get close-up photos posted of the door components that require repair or replacement?
Answer: Yes, see Attachement 2_Bunker Door Picture
6. Drawing S‐301 Note 1 says to sand blast and paint bunker doors. The existing paint is probably lead based because of the age of the doors. Are we required to contain and abate these doors?
Answer: Assume all doors contain lead paint and will require containment and abatement.
7. Are we only required to paint the exterior of the bunker doors?
Answer: See revised drawings.
8. The existing LPS system and the proposed replacement system does and will not meet NFPA 780 requirements for a master label due to not having a ground ring. Is this a concern?
Answer: the ECM’s shall have grounding rings.
9. Do we design the 18 Natural Covered ECMs using the same criteria as the Specification and Drawings as shown? Excluding the conductor from Door to Vent. Due to the topography this conductor is not needed. The head wall/doors/electronics and vent stacks will be protected individually.
Answer: There are several ECM's mentioned in sheet: E-101, E-102, E-103 and E-104 that are earth covered by the local topography. The LPS shall be designed and installed by the contractor. There are 18 of these and they are from ECM number 92101 to 92119 exclude building 92102 and add building 92126. A third party has to certify the LPS.
10. Are all bunkers to be stripped and pond liner applied or just a select few?
Answer: All earth covered bunkers are to receive pond liners. Refer to drawings.
11. The size of the anchor block for securing the pond liner is 24in wide on pg. S‐401. Is it the government’s intention to have the anchor block exposed? The drawings on pg. S‐401 shows fill and liners flush with the blocks. If government intention is to have the liner, fill and blocks flush more than 6in of top material will need to be removed.
Answer: Excavate adequate material to completely embed concrete anchors.
12. Do the exterior bunker doors get the interior and exterior painted or just the exterior?
Answer: Door repairs shall be limited to the exterior doors only.
13. Do any doors inside the bunker past the main exterior doors get painted?
