1. Drawing S‐401 Details 1 & 2, show removal of 6” of soil and installation of an EPDM pond liner, 6” of fill material and a 2nd EPDM pond liner. What bunker locations require this new liner installation if any?

Answer: This will be required on all earth formed bunkers associated with this project.

2. Drawing S‐401 Note 1, On the site visit we did not stop and look at the 12 bunker locations (92178‐92190) that require us to grade the existing swales for drainage. Can we have a 2nd site visit to look at these bunker locations?

Answer: No, a second site visit will NOT be conducted.

3. Drawing C‐001 Note 18, On the 18 ECM bunkers (92101‐92119 etc.) covered by local topography we need to know if the vent stacks are lightning protected. Also are any as‐built drawings available?

Answer: As-built drawings are not available for this site.

4. Please confirm all 63 bunkers locations get new lightning protection systems?

Answer: All bunkers listed in the construction drawings will require a new LPS. 18 bunkers are earth formed and the remainder are located on a hill side. Design and install the LPS per criteria provided in the project specifications and construction drawings. Contractor to determine extents of new conductor. LPS system must be certified by a third party inspector.

5. Can we get close-up photos posted of the door components that require repair or replacement?

Answer: Yes, see Attachement 2_Bunker Door Picture

6. Drawing S‐301 Note 1 says to sand blast and paint bunker doors. The existing paint is probably lead based because of the age of the doors. Are we required to contain and abate these doors?

Answer: Assume all doors contain lead paint and will require containment and abatement.

7. Are we only required to paint the exterior of the bunker doors?

Answer: See revised drawings.

8. The existing LPS system and the proposed replacement system does and will not meet NFPA 780 requirements for a master label due to not having a ground ring. Is this a concern?

Answer: the ECM’s shall have grounding rings.

9. Do we design the 18 Natural Covered ECMs using the same criteria as the Specification and Drawings as shown? Excluding the conductor from Door to Vent. Due to the topography this conductor is not needed. The head wall/doors/electronics and vent stacks will be protected individually.

b. If not, how do we estimate?

Answer: Use the door schedule provided in the construction drawings to determine and estimate the work to be performed.

56. The strap hinge design transfers the weight of the doors to the hinge rod. The hinge rod appears to be bearing on the concrete, transferring the weight of the door to the ground.

a. Are there any provisions in the contract to repair the concrete under the hinge rod?

b. Per the existing design the hinge rod must rotate (the hinges are welded to the rod). Is there any requirement to add a thrust bearing under the rod to eliminate friction between the rod and the concrete?

c. Is it preferable, or allowable, to add a wall mounted bracket to support the hinge rod (and weight of the door)?

Answer: No.

57. The drawings indicate the hinge rod is a 2" O.D. tube. Field measurements on the bunker we looked at appeared to show the rod is actually 1 3/4" O.D. Please confirm the actual size and if this is uniform for all bunkers.

Answer: Assume all rods are 2” O.D.. Contractor shall field verify dimensions prior to executing repair work.

58. Detail 3/S‐501 states we are to relocate and install new hinge rod holders where damaged holders occur.

a. What are the guidelines for relocating the holders in terms of anchor spacing from the existing anchors?
