Questions and Answers for Solicitation W56HZV-18-R-0151

Set 3

Q1: Main concern over this comes down to cores and castings. Perkins no longer can get us blocks or heads for this engine line, so what happens when the core is no good and not buildable? […]. I really would hate to submit a bid and win and not be able to supply anything 2-3 years down the road because all that is left are damaged cores that are not rebuildable.

A1: If the core is determined to be bad and cannot be rebuilt that engine would be removed from the Government inventory and discarded. Overall risk of the Government core condition not capable of being rebuilt is low. The engines the Government has available do not have that type of damage or hours on them.
