B2 SWITCHGEAR & H7 FREQUENCY CONVERTER – PROJECT #VBDZ202102
SITE VISIT – QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
1. Q: Will the due date be extended?
A: Yes, the new due date will be Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Noon.
2. Q: The UFGS 26 35 43, is not a completed specification. Will the specification be completed or is the supplier meant to be meet the intent of the specification?
A: The supplier is meant to meet the intent of UFGS 26 35 43. Unit must be tested by Contractor per the Statement of Work. Submittals of testing plan, equipment purchase(s) and schedule will be required and discussed further at the pre-construction meeting.
3. Q: For those unable to attend a site visit, can a picture of the complete converter install be provided?
A: Photos were attached to solicitation. Unsure of what other photos are needed. Although not mandatory, site visits are recommended.
4. Q: Listed in under B. CONSTRUCTION, the output contactor is stated to have a rating of 45-kVA but the converter rating is 90-kVA. Please confirm you need a 90-kVA rating.
A: The output contactor listed in the Statement of Work under “Bid Option #1, Section B.3.e” is existing and functioning properly. The contactor is not required as part of the Statement of Work. Only the 90 kva converter is needed.
5. Q: The converter appears to be in a separate room in the building and not in the hangar itself. Is there a remote control box with an output cable in the hangar that the converter will be connect to?
A: No, the unit is always on and there is a contactor in the hangar for controlling their power.
The scope of this project does not involve this unit.
6. Q: Will a site visit attendance roster be posted?
A: Yes
7. Q: Do the existing empty pipes need to be completely removed? Was not sure if their removal was included in this project or if they could be cut off and left uninstalled.
A: The empty conduits do not require complete removal. They can be cut off to a point that allows new until to be installed without restriction, and left in place.
8. Q: Is the Output Contactor rating to be limited at 45 kva or fully rated at 90 kva?
A: Please see Question #4.
9. Q: Is the Output Connection meant to be dual output contactors each rated for 45 kva?
A: Please see Question #4.
10. Q: Follow-up Question from #5 above. The answer seems to say there is another remote contactor in the hangar that the converter is connected to, even though a “No” was stated. Speaking with a contractor from the site visit, the converter is located in another room and connected to a panel. Please send a picture of the contactor or remote box that is located in the hangar that the converter is connected to. Please include the panel face controls and indicators.
A: There is a contactor in the hangar that has a remote start-stop station with no control connection to the converter. This contactor and associated start-stop station are not within the scope of this project.
11. Q: What size breaker is feeding the Frequency Converter?
A: 150 amp
12. Q: Is there a specific manufacturer or model number to bid on for the switchgear?
A: The statement of work (SOW) requires the switchgear replacement to perform equal to or better than the existing equipment and to also have the configuration listed within the SOW.
Equipment comparable to the Square D QMB fusible power distribution panel boards or the QED-2 LV switchboards will be considered.
13. Does the proposal need to be delivered as a hard copy or will this be acceptable by email?
A: The proposal will be accepted by email only.
