Q&A ROUND 2

Hangar 8 Renovation Project #: VBDZ162002

Questions and Answers – Round 2 - Note: All clarifications or revisions shall be incorporated into the resultant contract.

1.Q: I'm having trouble finding any good elevations for the wall tile in the bathrooms. Icould have missed it but I do not see an elevation for how they want the 6X6 tile on thewalls installed or how high they want it to be up the walls.

They do not show adescription of how they want the 6X12 Ceramic Base installed either. That tile only has aSanitary cove base option, no square top available. So either we'd have to cut the returnoff of all the pieces to make it square to set the wall tile on top or we have to bring thewall tile down to within five or so inches of the floor and then build out the bottom so wecan apply the Sanitary base on and it will come up over the top of the wall tile.

Theonly other option would be to just bring the wall tile down to the floor and eliminate thecove base entirely. Any information on how they actually want it installed would beappreciated.

A: At the 9’ full height tile walls as indicated by a long and short dashed line and Note #3 onsheet A-101, provide 6”x6” wall tile down to tile floor (no cove base). Provide 6”x12” cove baseat all other areas where specified.

2.Q: Is there a flooring finish at the new slab location for the wheelchair lift?

A: At the 9’ full height tile walls as indicated by a long and short dashed line and Note #3 onsheet A-101, provide 6”x6” wall tile down to tile floor (no cove base). Provide 6”x12” cove baseat all other areas where specified.

3.Q: Please see attachment. Can you pass this along to the architect and see what he/shethinks about these areas in front of all the shower areas. I do not believe that it would bewise to try and bevel larger size tiles to a drain in such a small area. You'd have to makerelief cuts in the larger size tiles in order to make that happen. The other question I haveregarding those same areas, is the existing subfloor beveled to these drains prior toinstalling the new tile flooring or will the installer need to do a new mudd floor in thoseareas to set up the taper to the drains?

A: Use 6”x6” floor tiles on new mudd floor at shower areas to achieve slope to drains.

4.Q: Wet-Pipe Sprinkler System specification Section 211313 Part 2.3 B mentions approval of“Adjustable Drop Nipples”. If UL Listed and FM Approved, are braided flexible sprinkler hoseassemblies acceptable for installation in the ceiling grid areas, or is “hard piping” required?

A: The use of flexible sprinkler hose assemblies is allowable. If flexible sprinkler hoseassemblies are utilized, the contractor shall ensure that their hydraulic calculationsproperly account for the equivalent length of standard pipe to verify that the existingwater supply is sufficient to support the use of flexible sprinkler hose assemblies.

5.Q: Some of the epoxy materials that are specified have been discontinued for more than 10years. Will they be looking for us to submit the alternate materials with our bid?

A: Per spec section 096723.16 part 2.4 the vendors and products listed in Table 2 are products that have been previously tested in accordance with the specification. Additional vendors and products may be submitted for review of compliance if the contractor is awarded the project. The alternate products will be submitted during the shop drawing review process.

6. Q: Epoxy Floor Coating - They are asking for 100% of the existing floor coating to be removed? What if it is properly adhered to the existing surface?

A: No. Please follow the specification for removing existing floor coating system.

7. Q: Epoxy Floor Coating - Moisture Vapor Emission rates? Epoxy mortar system over slabs with higher than 4.5 pounds moisture vapor emission rates. Epoxy mortar systems aren’t usually applied over floors with high moisture vapor emission without putting a moisture vapor emission primer down first or applying a system that can withstand more than 4.5 pounds of moisture vapor emission.

A: Per specification section 096723.16 part 1.4.2.4, the contractor must submit literature documenting the coating system being used has a past performance in aircraft maintenance shops and over floors with high Moisture Vapor Emission (MVE) rates. See 1.4.2.4 for additional requirements.

8. Q: Please provide specification requirements for the following items:

- Shower Curtain

- Shower Curtain Rod

- Soap Holder

- Towel Hook

A: Shower Curtain: See spec section 102116.19

Shower Curtain Rod: See spec section 102116.19

Soap Holder: Bobrick B-6807 or equal

Towel Hook: Bobrick B-2116 or equal

9. Q: Drawing E-103 - 41 paging speakers are shown - note says match existing – can we get a model # to match?

No indication of how many channels are needed back to the head end, a one-line diagram would be helpful.

A: Speakers are Rauland Model Number ACC1403. Please see attachment for original installation diagram, “Sheet E-4 dated 22 July 1996”.

10. Q: Drawing E-103 - Note 7 references Cat 6 cable, however, in the spec, it says division 27 not used (communication). Please clarify data scope for this project, is it raceways only, or full cabling, jacks & certification.

A: Scope is for raceways, full cabling, jacks and certification. We acknowledge Division 27 is not used. Please also refer back to Question #16 above about recommended reuse of CAT 6 cable.

11. Q: Can existing sanitary plumbing line below grade be abandoned at cap off location?

A: Existing sanitary lines that are being demoed can be abandoned as long as proper precautions and planning are done such that the abandoned pipe doesn’t interfere with the routing of the new sanitary piping.

12.Q: Can you indicate locations of new sanitary lines under slab?A: New under slab sanitary lines are indicated with a bold line type on Sheet P-100, existing sanitary pipe under slab is denoted with a (E) on Sheet P-10013.Q:

Due to short time period between site visit and bid date, please consider extending due date for bids.

A: Yes, the due date for the proposals was extended until 15 June.
