Vendor Questions
Q1: Only the Quick-Fit SmartKey comes in 8-colors. However, the Standard SmartKey with the 1/8” stainless steel ring specified in Sec.4.A.1.i).i only come in 5-colors.
A1: 5-colors is acceptable. The SOW has been revised to state “five or more colors.”
Q2: The SmartKey has a 1/8” stainless steel ring that keys are placed onto before being secured to the SmartKey. However, there are additional 5/32” keyRings that can be secured to the 1/8” stainless steel ring to accomadate larger bundles of keys. This performace statement makes no mention to the size of the optional keyRing required and or if its required at all for this project.
A2: There is no requirement to accommodate larger bundles of keys for this project. Only one key will be attached to each SmartKey.
Q3. the Standard SmartKey can only have the 1/8” stainless steel ring cut FIVE times before the Standard SmartKey has to be replaced.
A3. The SOW states “Smartkeys are reusable.” If a key can be reused five times that meets the intent of the salient characteristics. As to not limit competition, no changes needed for this salient characteristic.
Q4. The performance requirement states “Capable of producing reports; with no computer needed.” The XXXX allows for viewing of the “History” of the keys that have been checked out and returned to the Cabinet directly from the Terminal screen, for those users that are given permission to view the transactional “History”.
A4. This would meet the intent if the history can store for up to 30 days or transactions. See SOW for revisions
Q5 What is the authentication method a User will use to access the keyCabinet; pin-code, card or pin-code and card?
A5. No preference to the method of access to the keycabinet.
Q6. Do the end-users want to use their CAC Card for authentication on keyCabinet?
A6. No preference to the method of access to the keycabinet.
Q7. Are the THREE keyCabinets being installed in the same location?
A7. No, they will be installed in separate locations. 3 separate cabinets are required.
Q8. we are the manufacture of a XXXX that meets these requirements, although not the intended manufacture this bid was written for. I wanted to know if I need to receive a determination from you that our solution is considered an “equivalent” solution?
A8. This requirement is not a brand name specific and was not meant to be written for an intended manufacturer. Since it’s not a specific to one brand a determination should not be required.
