Q: Is this replacement Model 142S identical to the Model 142S currently at Redstone, including Cs-137 source loading?
If not, please provide additional specifications.
A: This is for a replacement and modification of the motor, not the whole equipment. They just need to provide and install the motor only. Also, the installation for this will not be at Redstone but at TSC-White Sands the address is below.
TSC-White Sands Building 1528 Benet Street White Sands Missile Range, NM 88002-5528
Q: Does the Army want to retain the current Model 142S or does the Army want it removed at the time of the new installation?
A: The current Model 142S shall be retained.
Q: Is this request for an entire new calibrator, or is this for refurbishing of an existing system? If this is an existing unit, where is the unit currently located?
A: Refurbishing an existing unit located at… TSC-White Sands Building 1528 Benet Street White Sands Missile Range, NM 88002-5528
Q: There is discussion in the PWS requiring delivery of the unit to Redstone Arsenal RSL. This is understood if the request is for a new unit. However, if this is for refurbishing an existing unit, will the contractor be required to package and ship the unit from its existing location and deliver it to Redstone, or will the Army handle this portion, so that the contractor will only be responsible for arriving on-site at Redstone, AL to commission the system?
A: PWS and solicitation will be revised to reflect corrected place of performance.
Q: If the intent is to acquire a new irradiator, would it be possible to change the wording to be for a JLS Model 142S Calibrator or equivalent? I believe this wording would allow for more competition. While we are able to refurbish an existing unit, only JLS would be able to provide a new JLS model. However, we are able provide a new unit of our own design that would be equivalent to the JLS irradiator.
A: There exist no intent to acquire a new irradiator.
