D-30 CANNON INSPECTION CRITERIA/DOCUMENTATION

1. Material Certifications

· Tube, Breech Ring, Breechblock Forgings and Muzzle Brake Casting

· Did the above meet their standards for chemistry, physicals, integrity? Any accepted on a waiver?

2. Inspection Documentation

· Serialize each Tube/Breech ring/Breechblock together

· Pressure vessel proof firing requirements or applicable hydraulic test requirements

· Access and spot review of inspection documentation of for dimensional, hardness, NDT certs. Follows some critical interface dimensions:

· Bore Diameter @ rear face tube (RFT): 140.80+0.15mm

· Tube O.D. @ Breech Interface: 260-0.05 to -0.12mm

· Breech Ring I.D. holes for both recoil brake and recuperator

· Width across front and rear yokes @ brass slide inserts

· Slot height within front and rear toke brass slide inserts

3. Required 100% Inspection Using Refurbishment Acceptance Document

· (1)Borescope inspection

· (2)Chamber depth measurement: 591-594mm

· (3)Star Gauge measurement Land: 121.92+0.15mm Groove: 123.95+0.15mm Land Width: 4 Groove Width: 6.6

· (4)Cannon Bending: ø121.85 X 610 long gauge pass thru bore

· (5)Firing pin protrusion: 2 – 2.38mm

· (7)Muzzle brake looseness: none

· (16)Drawbar wall thickness: 42.4mm min

· (49)Check breechblock can be opened by hand

· (50)Check headspace clearance (Max): 6.5mm (Min): X.Xmm

· (51)Check if breech opening handle retained by sear claw

· (52)Check if breechblock is held open by extractors

· (53)Check if tripping extractors allows breech to fully close

· (54)Check if firing pin recocks with breech opening

· (55)Check if firing pin recocks with re-arming mechanism

· (57)Check for self-induced firing pin release upon closing of breech

· (58)Check for firing pin release even if breech not fully closed

· (59)Check for proper firing pin release

· (60)Check for firing pin impact off center (6.5mm maximum)

· (61)Check if breechblock stop returns to initial position

· (62)Check if cartridge case retainer returns to its initial position

· (63)Check if firing pin release handle returns to initial position

· (64)Check to see firing pin release handle force does not exceed 20kgf max

· (71)Full vertical looseness of cannon (0-.07mils)

· (74)Full horizontal looseness of cannon (0-.08mils)
