Technical Evaluations:
1.1 Proximity of contractor to VAMC and specimen Transport time: Its highly desirable and advantageous to MVAHCS to have a minimal specimen transport time so as not to compromise the integrity of the sample or accuracy of the test results. A minimal transport time between the VA and the testing laboratory will be rated more favorable.
1.2 Turn-around time offered for test Results: It is of the utmost importance to the VAMC to receive prompt turnaround times of specimen processing so as not to compromise patient care. Turnaround times of the following tests will be considered: anatomic pathology consultation cases within 4 working days of receipt of slides, unless additional testing such as immunohistochemistry or molecular gene rearrangement studies are required. Specialized neurology Testing is within 10-14 working days of specimen receipt.
1.3 Contractor’s Laboratory licenses, Accreditations, Professional Certificates: The contractor shall provide information demonstrating the contract laboratory has licenses, accreditations, and the professional certifications required to perform the stat and specialized laboratory testing and pathology services of similar or greater complexity. The contractors shall submit a narrative addressing this requirement.
1.4 Professional Qualification and Expertise of contractor’s personnel: The contractor must provide information that demonstrates the ability and professional expertise and qualifications of contractor’s personnel who will perform the work under the contract. The contractor shall provide proof of an academically oriented division of Ophthalmologic Pathology. Contractor shall submit proof that consultations shall be performed by nationally recognized experts in Genitourinary pathology, Pulmonary pathology, Gastrointestinal Pathology, and Head and Neck pathology.
