24.0.2 Except for UW Whitewater, program shall not use acid or any chemical type concentration that will cause or aggravate tower drift to precipitate any compounds that are harmful to persons or property (such as buildings or automobiles located next to the plant).
24.0.3 For UW Whitewater, Scale control, dispersion, and pH control shall be achieved with use of non-toxic organic compounds and/or polymers and with the supplementary use of acid feed.
24.0.4 Corrosion inhibitor(s) shall be non-toxic organic compounds. Corrosion protection is provided for all metal surfaces encountered in this tower loop system. Bidder shall guarantee to achieve (less than) <2.0 MPY (mils per year) metal loss for ferrous, (less than) <0.5 MPY copper & Brass. Provide white rust inhibitor in for MMHI.
24.0.5 Microbiocide: Micro biological growth control shall limit formation of algae, slime forming bacteria, legionnaire’s disease bacteria (Legionella pneumophilla), molds, fungi, and any biological fouling organisms anywhere within the entire treated open loop cooling water system.
24.0.6 Continuous feeding of oxidizing biocides, bromine shall be used in conjunction with slug feeding a non-oxidizing biocide.
Maintain a minimum of .5 ppm free halogen in all cooling towers. Provide liquid stabilized bromine (minimum 12%) for UW Whitewater.
Provide hydanation for CHPP at a minimum dosage rate of 14 ppm with a total product of
(minimum 90%) Hydantoin.
Provide 8-ppm minimum Hydantoin (C3H4N2O2) with a total product (minimum 90%) for
MMHI.
Provide 12 ppm minimum Hydantoin with a total product of (minimum 90%) or a total product of (minimum 90%) hydanation for UW GB and UW Parkside. Biodispersant – Slug feed once per week.
Maintain microbiological activity below ten thousand organisms per milliliter of treated cooling water. Provide dip slides to monitor effectiveness of biocide treatment in (open systems) at each site on a weekly basis.
24.0.7 Tower water Lay-up: All organic water soluble type corrosion inhibitor. Bidder shall guarantee to achieve (less than) <2 MPY (mils per year) metal loss for ferrous metals and surfaces.
24.0.8 For Femrite Data Center, all chemicals used must be compatible with the Smart Release
Technology’s solid-feed treatment system.
25.0 CHILLED WATER:
25.0.1 Corrosion inhibitors for ferrous and non-ferrous metal with pH buffers to protect all different types of metals in the system. Except for UW Milwaukee, a minimum of 9.0 pH must be maintained in the system. Bidder shall guarantee to achieve (less than)
<0.5 MPY (mils per year) metal loss for non-ferrous metals and surfaces.
25.0.2 Microbiocide: Non-oxidizing biocides to maintain microbiological activity below 1,000 organisms per milliliter of treated chilled water. Provide Gluter
Alderhyde, minimum 15%.
Provide Isothiazolin, minimum 1.5% as active ingredient for UW Milwaukee &
Capital Heat & Power.
Provide chlorine di oxide precursors, 25% sodium chlorite, 12.5%sodium hypochlorite, 17%sulfuric acid for UW Milwaukee & 10% Hydrochloric acid for Capitol Heat & Power.
Provide dip slides to monitor effectiveness of biocide at each (closed systems) site on a weekly basis.
Microbio testing of water for TES (thermal Energy systems)
25.0.3 Shock feed 10 gallons per month isothiazolin (minimum 1.5%) and 55 gallons hydrogen peroxide (less than 35% but at least 30%) to chilled water each month at UW Milwaukee for bacteria and odor control. Provide additional micro-biocide treatments as needed to maintain micro biological activity below one thousand organisms per milliliter of treated cooling water.
UW Milwaukee C.W system shall me monitored and treated year around.
Provide dip slides to monitor effectiveness of biocide treatment in (closed systems) at each site on a weekly basis.
25.0.4 Provide closed loop inhibitor treatment for UW Milwaukee to protect corrosion attack, and prevent fouling in heat exchangers. The product shall be non-toxic organic compounds, shall not be subjected to microbiological degradation, and must employ a combination of Molybdate based synergistic corrosion inhibitors and deposit control agents. A minimum of 9.0 pH shall be maintained for UWM and a minimum of 8.5 pH for UW G.B system.
