CRWS Phase IV Solids Expansion (CMAR) CRWS utilizes a four-step process for solids treatment: Thickening, Pre-dewatering, Thermal Hydrolysis/Anaerobic Digestion (THP/AD), and Post-dewatering. Primary sludge is thickened in gravity thickeners and combined with waste activated sludge from secondary clarifiers, which is thickened via gravity belt thickeners (GBTs). The blended sludge is pre-dewatered by centrifuges, treated through the Thermal Hydrolysis Process (THP), anaerobically digested, and then dewatered in the post-dewatering building using belt filter presses. This will result in the generation of Class A biosolids which enables various options for beneficial reuse.
