1. Describe your experience serving schools targeted for school improvement and the impact you were able to have in terms of student achievement.

In my current role as the District Professional Development Coordinator for Avondale Elementary School

District, I have worked directly with several schools identified for targeted improvement. My support has focused on building instructional capacity in mathematics through embedded coaching, strategic use of data, and collaborative professional learning communities.

Through my work with Project Momentum, I’ve provided focused mathematics professional development in schools identified for improvement, targeting gaps in student achievement by strengthening teachers’ content knowledge, supporting intentional lesson planning, and building understanding of learning progressions across grade levels. I’ve facilitated cycles of professional learning that include co-planning, observation, and analysis of student work, helping teachers connect instructional decisions to student outcomes.

At one school in particular, my ongoing partnership with teacher teams led to a more coherent approach to math instruction and a shared understanding of essential standards. This contributed to measurable growth on district benchmarks and increased student engagement in math discussions. Teachers reported greater confidence in scaffolding tasks for all learners, and CFAs began to reflect gains in conceptual understanding, especially in fractions and ratios.

My work continues to center on sustainable change—equipping teachers and coaches to lead improvements in math instruction that result in higher achievement for all students, particularly those in schools needing the most support.

2. Describe your experience leading PLCs (i.e collaborative teams).

I have extensive experience leading professional learning communities (PLCs) across grades K–8, both in my current role as the District Professional Development Coordinator for Avondale ESD and through my consulting work with Project Momentum. My approach centers on using the PLC as a collaborative space to drive instructional improvement, deepen mathematical content knowledge, and analyze student data to inform teaching decisions.

In Avondale, I have designed and facilitated ongoing PLC cycles that focus on unpacking essential standards, aligning curriculum to the rigor of the standards, and using student work protocols to assess and advance student learning. I support coaches and teachers in identifying learning intentions and success criteria, planning lessons with clarity around conceptual goals, and integrating strategies to support discourse and equitable access to grade-level tasks.

My work has helped teams shift from a focus on compliance and pacing to a focus on student thinking and instructional impact. I’ve also introduced tools like math language routines (MLRs), learning progressions, and task analysis frameworks to help teachers collaboratively plan and reflect. These PLC structures have resulted in improved teacher confidence, more intentional instructional planning, and measurable gains in student achievement across our benchmark and formative assessments.

I view PLCs as a powerful vehicle for sustainable change when grounded in trust, purpose, and a commitment to student learning.

3. Describe your knowledge of, and experience with, the Project Momentum Gears framework.

I bring a deep, multi-layered understanding of the Project Momentum Gears framework, built through direct implementation and leadership at the classroom, school, and district levels. I began engaging with the Gears as a classroom teacher and later applied them in my work as an instructional coach and site administrator. Today, I continue this work in my current role as District Professional Development Coordinator in Avondale ESD, a district actively supported by Project Momentum and aligned with its foundational practices.

Over the past two years, I have served as a Project Momentum consultant in the very role for which I am applying. During this time, I have supported schools identified for improvement through strategic professional learning grounded in the Gears framework. My consulting work has included facilitating virtual and cross-district PLCs, modeling instructional strategies for teachers in aligning their practice to the key six questions that are the foundation of Project Momentum—including rigorous instruction, student engagement, data-driven decision-making, and collective efficacy.

Notably, I was one of only two consultants who piloted the Project Momentum PLC program in 2024, which is now a foundational structure for professional learning within the network. This experience has allowed me to not only deliver the work, but also help shape how teachers are empowered to drive sustainable, measurable change in student achievement.

My layered experience across roles and my ongoing leadership in a Project Momentum-supported district position me to continue contributing meaningfully to the Project Momentum mission.

4. Describe your experience with coaching teachers

I have extensive experience coaching teachers across roles—as a site-based instructional coach, an administrator, a Project Momentum consultant, and now as the District Professional Development Coordinator for Avondale Elementary School District. My coaching has always centered on improving student outcomes through intentional shifts in instructional practice, grounded in standards-aligned teaching and deep mathematical understanding.

In my current district role, I coach and develop site-based instructional coaches as well as directly support teachers in schools identified for targeted improvement. My work includes facilitating instructional walkthroughs, leading data conversations, co-planning lessons, modeling instructional strategies, and guiding reflection on student learning. I prioritize building teacher capacity through a collaborative, non-evaluative lens that empowers educators to reflect, take instructional risks, and own their professional growth.

Through Project Momentum, I’ve coached teachers in districts across Arizona, supporting them in aligning instruction to the Gears framework. This included helping teachers unpack essential standards, incorporate student discourse strategies, and analyze student work to drive instruction. My role extended to leading professional learning communities and mentoring teacher leaders to sustain coaching practices beyond my direct support.

Whether supporting early-career teachers in building foundational knowledge or partnering with experienced educators to deepen rigor and engagement, my coaching is always rooted in a belief in teachers’ potential and a shared commitment to equitable student achievement.
