About this file
This document provides a synopsis and justification for a sole source award as well as a request for information regarding a high volume sequencing system requirement. The United States Army intends to negotiate solely with Illumina Inc. for the procurement of one NextSeq 2000 sequencing system that can produce up to 330 megabases of data from a 48 hour run using 2 by 150 base pair reagents. Compatible reagent kits must be available to support flexible run formats including whole genome sequencing, amplicon sequencing, RNA sequencing, and metagenomics. Responses to the notice seeking information from sources that may be able to meet the requirement are due within 15 days of posting to Andrew Merdoc at the specified email address.
The key technical requirements are identified as the ability to produce the stated output volume from a benchtop system, support of the listed run types and formats with compatible reagents, automated paired-end sequencing capability, and a proven track record in sequencing low quality samples.

· Produce up to 330 Megabase (Mb) of data from a 48 hour 2 by 150 base pair (bp) run.
· The sequencer should fit on a standard laboratory benchtop.
· The manufacturer shall provide compatible reagent kits for flexible run formats (whole genome sequencing, amplicon sequencing, library sequencing, Ribonucleic Acid (RNA) sequencing, transcriptomics, metagenomics).
· The sequencer shall be capable of automated paired-end sequencing.
· The sequencing platform shall have an excellent track record of producing quality publications, especially concerning organisms with low (less than (<) 35 percent (%)) guanine and cytosine (GC) content.
· The sequencer shall have adjustable read length from 50 to 300 bp.
· The sequencer shall produce high quality data with Quotient factor scores (Q-scores) greater than or equal to (>=) 30 at two (2) by 150 bp read length.
