About this file
This Statement of Work (SOW) details the procurement of an Emergency Tow Package consisting of five separate high molecular weight polyethylene (HMPE) lines for a naval shipyard. The lines, produced by Cortland Company, include five different lengths (30', 100', 130', and 150') and must be 12X12 braided Plasma lines with proprietary "SX" chafe sleeves. Specific technical requirements include a minimum spliced break strength of 291,000 lbs, a minimum diameter of 1-5/8", maximum weight of 6.6 lbs/ft, and compatibility with 1-1/4" Ultrex synthetic shackles by Yale Cordage. Each line must have a permanent working load limit (WLL) tag and be stored in two insulated SAW plastic storage boxes with a minimum of 42 cubic feet capacity. The contractor must be prepared for a potential origin inspection at their facility, with 14 calendar days' notice required for delivery and potential site visits.
