About this file
This statement of work outlines requirements for downhole logging consulting and equipment services for magnetic rings and a sensor probe. The California Water Science Center Research Drilling Program requires a minimum of 90 magnetic rings, one magnetic sensor probe, and onsite training and consultation for installation and use of the equipment at multiple locations in the San Joaquin Valley, California between February and March 2024. The magnetic rings must be directly attached to aquifers to precisely measure compaction, and the sensor probe must function across installations. Equipment delivery is to locations in Las Vegas, Nevada and near Lost Hills, California. The related federal contract opportunity is solicitation number 140G0324Q0002 for these downhole logging consulting and equipment services through the Department of the Interior US Geological Survey Office of Acquisitions and Grants.

STATEMENT OF Work
Magnetic rings, sensor probe, design consultation and training for installation of magnetic ring extensometer sites in San Joaquin Valley, CA
I. General Information:
The California Water Science Center (CAWSC) Research Drilling Program (RDP) requires consulting services and equipment. Services will be on site in the California Central Valley and include instruction on installation of magnetic rings and the running of the downhole probe for measurements. Equipment are borehole magnetic rings and the downhole logging probe. These services and equipment are to be supplies and manufactured by the contractor. The equipment must be developed and deployed to measure aquifer‐system compaction and must be successfully deployed multi‐level compaction well (MLCW) technology that utilizes magnetic rings directly attached to the aquifer formation where the cumulative distances between successive rings can be precisely measured. The magnetic rings, magnetic sensor probe and other related equipment, along with consultation and training for the design, installation, and implementation of the technology is needed to meet the USGS mission and CAWSC project goals to provide data that will help water managers make more informed sustainable groundwater management decisions.
2. Quantities:
A minimum of 90 magnetic rings and 1 magnetic sensor probe plus a flat consulting fee for onsite training of installation and logging of completed extensometer. The magnetic sensor probe must be used for multiple MLCW installations.
3. When needed:
Expected start date is approximately February 28, 2024 and last roughly 30 days. However, award in advance is needed so travel plans can be made, equipment can be built and drilling site can be permitted.
4. Delivery
Hard products (probes, rings) should be delivered to USGS Research Drilling Program 3595 E Patrick Lane #100/200 Las Vegas NV. Technical assistance shall take place on the California Aqueduct near Lost Hills CA .Map attached below. Location: 35°34'52.21"N, 119°40'41.48"W.
