This document is a Sole Source Justification Form for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) to enter into a concession agreement with the Lincoln Log Cabin Foundation to operate the Goose Nest Prairie Gift Shop at the Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site. The gift shop will sell nature-related and historically relevant products such as books, periodicals, souvenirs, and handcrafted items. The Foundation will also provide interpretive services, administrative assistance, fundraising, and marketing in addition to operating the gift shop. The term of the contract is from 01/01/2025 to 12/31/2027 with no renewal options.

The estimated value of the initial term is $118,500. The Foundation is a non-profit organization that reinvests 100% of the gift shop and event concession profits back into the park for improvements and preservation. They also supplement IDNR staffing and resources through volunteer efforts. IDNR has contracted with the Foundation since 1986, and the sole source justification is based on the Foundation's unique role and mission specific to this historic site.
