Amendment 0002
Amendment 0002 is hereby incorporated into the Invitation For Bid for the door replacement project, DLA Distribution San Joaquin Ca and shall become part of any resulting contract issued.
Amendment 0002 makes the following changes: Extends the Bid Opening to August 17, 2015 at 10:00 AM Pacific Time and Answer vendor’s questions.
Question 1: Confirm if Doors are not required to have perimeter gasketing and S-labels as air leakage rated “smoke” door assemblies.
Answer 1: Perimeter gasket and s label is not required.
Question 2: Doors in all buildings are now to be installed during normal business hours M-F (we originally discussed mandatory weekend installations for Bldg. 16).
Answer 2: All doors will be allowed to be installed during normal business hours.
Question 3: Doors are to be installed in one opening at a time (this would essentially mean one door at a time, even on openings with doors on both sides of the wall to avoid installation interference, and would therefore potentially require 350 working days which is in conflict with the 180 calendar day completion schedule).
Answer 3: Contractor can simultaneously work on several doors but cannot leave one door incomplete and begin installation of another door. Govt. prior approval will be required to work simultaneously on some of the doors located in operationally sensitive area.
Question 4: We are to quote per door schedule sizes even though some are not correct, then recheck all openings prior to fabrication, and request change orders where necessary due to size corrections.
Answer 4: Its contractors responsibility to measure and field verify all dimensions. No change order will be entertained based door sizes/openings.
Question 5: Door sizes are listed on schedule (and building drawings) as width x height
Answer 5: Correct
Question 6: New doors are to be staged for installation in some central outside storage area yet TBD, and removed doors are to be brought to the same area to be staged for disposal.
Answer 6: Open storage area will be provided. Contractor will be required to provide temporary fence around it for security. Contractor shall be responsible for stored material.
Question 7: We were shown some of the doors in 3 buildings (16, 15, 100) during the job walk, and advised that we should consider Bldg. 15 as representative of the other buildings. Many doors have obstructions, inadequate clearances, or improper mounting

Amendment 0002 conditions that will prevent full compliance with door listings or NFPA 80 requirements.
In some cases, it will be impossible for the fusible links to be located within 12” of the ceiling on both sides of the walls. How are we supposed to address these issues?
Since the federal government is its own AHJ, will there be allowances made for non-compliance where necessary due to existing field conditions?
Answer 7: Its contractor's responsibility to verify all field conditions and measurements.
We would allow multiple site visits if required by contractor to field verify measurements of all doors and verify field conditions. In an extreme conditions as decided by the government a door may be reviewed case by case basis. All construction and installation shall meet NFPA80.
Question 8: Are all doors are to be completely powder coated blue, or have powder coated black bottom bar (conflict in scope).
Answer 8: All doors shall be powder coated blue with powder coated black bottom bar.
Question 9: Have the doors and components that are listed as having lead based paint been painted over at some later date with non-lead based paint?
Answer 9: Yes but contractor shall treat them as lead based paints. If paint is disturbed during construction it shall be mitigated as lead based paint and comply with OSHA 29
CFR 1926.62
Question 10: Based upon the increased scope and complexity of the project, is it possible to delay the bid date?
Answer 10: Bid Opening extended to August 17, 2015 at 10:00 AM Pacific Time.
Question 11: If the fire doors were not required to be flat slats – which offers no benefit if they are not also S-Label air leakage rated “smoke” doors – the clearances may be able to be reduced further… and the doors would be less expensive (at least in our case).
Answer 11: Specifications call for flat slat fire doors.
Question 12: Per Spec section 01011 Special Requirements, Para 3.ii, the non-fire rated doors are to be 20 gauge, are the fire rated doors to be 20 gauge?
