About this file
This is a NASA Statement of Work for the acquisition of injection molded Viton seals for SBAR (Sorbent-Based Atmospheric Revitalization) valves, issued by the George C. Marshall Space Flight Center Engineering Directorate, Space Systems Department on 29 April 2026.
The objective is to procure injection molded Viton seals to support the development of valves needed for the SBAR system, which removes humidity and carbon dioxide to enable habitation in low-pressure environments. The vendor must develop molds from NASA-provided valve drawings and deliver injection molded Viton seals that conform to Drawing 1 (Cabin Air Valve Injection Molded Seals) and Drawing 2 (Vacuum Valve Injection Molded Seals). The seals must be permanently bonded to the valve body, fully continuous in both radial and axial directions, and accompanied by an acceptable Viton formulation data sheet. NASA will furnish the valves to the contractor for seal injection, with finished units delivered to Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama no later than 10 weeks after contract award. The contractor must be a highly capable, specialized vendor with demonstrated expertise in Viton seal injection molding and mold development.

NASA Statement of Work
Advanced Exploration Systems Life Support Systems
Acquisition of Injection Molded Viton Seals for SBAR
Valves 29 April 2026
Sorbent-Based Atmospheric Revitalization (SBAR)
George C. Marshall Space Flight Center Engineering Directorate, Space Systems Department
Objective/Requirements
The Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) team at Marshall Space Flight Center was provided funding through for the advanced testing and development of the
Sorbent Based Atmospheric Revitalization (SBAR) system. The SBAR system removes humidity and carbon dioxide (CO2) to enable habitation in low pressure environments.
To further develop the valves needed for the system injection molded Viton seals must be procured. As part of this effort, a specialized vendor of Viton seals must develop molds from the NASA-provided valve drawings. NASA will furnish the valves to the company for the seals to be injected and returned to NASA for evaluation. As part of this effort, a highly capable, specialized vendor must be identified.
Characteristics, Scope, and Specs
The vendor shall provide acceptable molds and deliver injection molded Viton seals that meet the following specs:
Must be capable of producing molds that conform to the requirements in Drawing 1, Cabin Air Vave Injection Molded Seals, and Drawing 2, Vacuum Valve Injection Molded Seals.
The injection molded seal must be permanently bonded to the valve body.
The injection molded seal must be a fully continuous seal in radial and axial directions.
A data sheet of the Viton formulation must be deemed acceptable
Performance Requirements and Deliverables:
Marshall Space Flight Center, Huntsville, AL
Period of Performance:
The units must be delivered to Marshall Space Flight Center, Huntsville, AL no later than 10 weeks after award.
