PART 2 – SCOPE OF WORK

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service – North Attleboro N.F.H. 2 of 4

A. SCOPE

Overview:

The project consists of removal of asphalt pavement, regrading and compacting the base material, construct a concrete pad from the front of the hatchery building to the trench drain, and pave the remainder of the area as shown on the map in Appendix 1. The area of the parking lot to be paved has several manhole covers (2) to grade and several valve risers to grade (4). There is a network of underground drain and water supply lines that should not be impacted by the proposed work.

An informational map of estimated locations of all underground infrastructure in the area of proposed work will be provided after contract award. There is an existing slotted trench drain that shall remain that runs approximately 75% of the parking lot (Refer to App. 1). The new pavement and concrete pad shall be sloped to drain storm water runoff to the trench drain.

There is no As-Built plan available showing any of the pavement details.

Asphalt Paving and Concrete Parking Lot Pad (Base Bid Item):

• Contractor shall visit the project site to become familiar with each aspect of the project.

Hot Mix Asphalt Paving:

• Remove all asphalt paving in the area indicated on the map in Appendix 1. There is no definitive information as to the thickness of the existing paving. The Project Leader at the hatchery estimates it is 2” thick.

• The subbase material shall be graded to slope to the center slotted trench drain. The subbase material shall be a crushed stone and gravel and be compacted to 95% percent of its maximum density.

• Purchase and install hot-mix Asphalt as shown on the map in Appendix 1. The estimated surface area of asphalt is approximately 2,500 s.f., a volume of 15 cu. yds., and approximately 31 tons.

Concrete Parking Lot Pad:

• Remove all asphalt paving in the area indicated on the map in Appendix 1. There is no definitive information as to the thickness of the existing paving. The Project Leader at the Hatchery estimates it is 2” thick.

• Remove all existing concrete aprons at 4 bay doors. Three of the concrete aprons are 6’ x 12.5’, and one is 13’ x 16.5’. There is an existing ADA ramp at a man door that is to remain.

• The concrete parking lot pad should be designed for low traffic volume and one truck daily.

• The subbase material shall be graded to slope to the center trench drain. The subbase material shall be a suitable material for a concrete parking lot and be compacted to 95% percent of its maximum density.

• Purchase and install a concrete parking lot as shown on the map in Appendix 1. The estimated surface area for the concrete parking lot is 3,500 s.f..
