STATEMENT OF WORK
NOAA ONMS CHNMS
Design and Install Modular Furniture for a new ONMS Office at California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo
I. INTRODUCTION
NOAA’s Office of National Marine Sanctuaries (ONMS) has signed a 15 year-lease for approximately 1,100 square feet for an unfurnished office space suite to serve as the new administrative headquarters for the Chumash Heritage national marine sanctuary which is undergoing the final stages of designation as new national marine sanctuary. The office suite is located in the Technology Park on the campus of the California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly).
The NOAA/ONMS office suite is currently a ready to occupy space, open floor plan with no furniture. ONMS requires a professional design for and the delivery and installation and integration of existing and new modular furniture for approximately 5-6 permanent staff along with a desk space and waiting area for other visiting staff and students. Storage for general administrative, education, outreach and research equipment is required.
Based on preliminary design discussions with Cal Poly staff, ONMS has in its possession approximately 30% of the total estimated modular pieces, components and accessories needed which should be incorporated into the design and final delivered product. Contractor to verify.
II. OBJECTIVES
Design a furniture layout incorporating and reusing as much of ONMS’s existing modular components into a new design for Government approval. The design should consist of the following general arrangements. Sizes are guidelines and not rigid requirements. Glass upper panels are requested for all workstations. Motorized adjustable height work surfaces (i.e., standing desks) are requested for each workstation. High modular walls may be anchored into the fixed permanent walls with prior approval of the Government.
In the main office space:
One approximately 9’x10’ high walled (~84” or higher) modular ‘supervisor’ office with door
• High quality task chair
• Adjustable height workstation
• Separate small table with seating for 3
Three 6’x9’ medium height (~60”) modular offices with peninsula for one person each
• High quality task chair
• Adjustable height workstation
• Visitor chair in each is room allows
One 6’x9’ medium high modular office with two desks for two people
• Two high quality task chairs
• Adjustable height workstations
One or two flip-top conference table(s) with a total combined space for 6 people
• Six high quality task chairs
Storage and dry erase boards throughout. Contractor to propose layout.
Due to the high ceilings and open floor plan, active noise cancelation/white noise generators are requested.
Contractor to propose layout.
In the vestibule/lobby space:
• Sitting area for visitors (small sofa or chair with small coffee table)
• Small desk for one visitor with task chair
ONMS/Cal Poly will provide dimensional drawings of the suite, however an on-onsite inspection and physical measurements of the actual office space, the existing furniture components is highly recommended including with a survey of existing electrical wall outlets for accessories.
Survey/inventory NOAA’s existing modular furniture components (Steelcase) which are located in the office suite in a disassembled state to be integrated into the final arrangement.
Provide and deliver all of the necessary remaining components (new), integrate, install & assemble. Clean up and remove all debris and packing material.
