About this file
This Scope of Work document is issued by the Escambia County Natural Resources Management Department in Florida for a forestry mulching project at the Jones Swamp Wetland Preserve. The project involves reducing wildfire threat and mid-story vegetation on approximately 33 acres of mixed slash and longleaf pine stand located in southwest Escambia County, north of Jones Creek and adjacent to 1451 Carrick Avenue. The contractor must remove brush and trees with a diameter at breast height (DBH) of 8 inches or less using a low ground pressure ASV loader equipped with a forestry mulcher attachment. All live trees and shrubs under 8 inches DBH and all dead snags regardless of size shall be ground to existing grade, with material left on the ground surface rather than mulched into the soil. The project deadline for completion is December 1, 2026, and prospective bidders should submit a lump sum quote for the entire project area.
The contractor must employ best management practices including silt fencing and turbidity curtains to prevent erosion and sedimentation into adjacent waters, with all material and equipment storage restricted to uplands or authorized impact areas. Any excessive ruts created during operations must be manually restored. The scope of work includes a project map, and additional information regarding insurance requirements is available in the attachments. Interested contractors should contact Adam Parden at the Escambia County Natural Resources Conservation Division at 850-494-7592 or adparden@myescambia.com for further details.
