This Scope of Work document outlines specifications for Communication Tower Removal Services to be performed for the Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT). The contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, and supplies necessary to remove antennas, antenna mounts, and communication towers at multiple statewide locations, with the exception of a dish antenna at the Polk County site which must remain with the DOT. Tower removal may be completed in single or multiple sections but must be broken into single twenty-foot sections once the tower is on the ground. The contractor is responsible for obtaining all necessary permits from State, County, or City authorities, arranging and paying for crane rental or third-party contractor services, and restoring any disturbed sod, soil, gravel, driveway, or building structures to original condition at the contractor's expense.

Contractor qualifications require all tower workers to be Certified Tower Technicians with minimum credentials as a Telecommunications Tower Technician certified or accredited by the National Association of Tower Erectors (NATE) or equivalent, with proof of current Tower Climbing Certificates and OSHA safety credentials submitted at the time of bid. The Iowa DOT will provide general tower drawings for Rohn Towers and applicable photographs but cannot guarantee accuracy or provide section weights or total tower weights, as many towers lack specific drawings. The DOT is responsible for removing concrete piers after tower removal and will handle crushing and disposal of tower materials and accessories as scrap metal through local garage staff. Electronic invoicing is recommended, with payment details to be provided to the awarded vendor.
