Continued from Block 14...
Response 1: NIST does not require injecting liquids into the source via the direct probe inlet (assuming the Sim inlet is the direct probe inlet).
Question 2: Does NIST have a requirement for the type of autosampler in regards to the type of tip, liquid sample or solid sample?
Response 2: NIST requires an autosampler capable of injecting liquids into the on-column and split/splitless injectors.
Question 3: Under section III (Specifications), subsection 1(c) it specifies, "The GC oven should be capable of sub-ambient temperatures of up to 450 °C and the two injectors (on-column and split/splitless) should be capable of tracking the temperature of the GC oven." What are the desired specifications for "sub-ambient" temperatures?
Is NIST looking for a cryogenic option? If so, would NIST like liquid N or CO2 as the cooling agent?
Response 3: The Statement of Work has been amended to clarify the sub-ambient temperature requirement.
Question 4: Under section III (Specifications), subsection 1(e) it specifies, "The instrument shall include a computer, monitor, instrument control and operation software to perform independent precursor ion scan, product ion scan, and neutral gain scan." If possible, could NIST clarify what is meant by neutral gain?
Response 4: The Statement of Work has been amended to clarify the definition/description of neutral gain under specification 1e.
Question 5: In the statement of work under the specifications section there is a statement under 1b. The sample introduction system shall be capable of injecting 0.2 to 5 ¼L into an on-column or a split/splitless injector. This implies that either a split/splitless injector or on-column injection is sufficient.
In section 1C the statement is: The GC oven should be capable of sub-ambient temperatures of up to 450 C and the two injectors (on-column and split/splitless) should be capable of tracking the temperature of the GC oven. The implication is that the GCMS must have two injection ports both on-column and split/splitless.
Are both the split/splitless and on-column injectors required or just one or the other injectors?
Response 5: NIST requires both injectors.
An amended Statement of Work has been attached. This version supersedes all previous versions posted.
The date for receipt of quotes is extended from 11:00 am Eastern on Friday 21 August 2015 to 11:00 am Eastern on Monday August 24 2015.
Descript: The purpose of this amendment is to post responses to questions, extend the date for receipt of quotes and clarify specifications in the Statement of Work.
Question 1: Does the system need the ability to shoot liquid samples into the Sim inlet? ...See Continuation Page
