About this file
This file is a location map document related to the City of Palm Desert's Wayfinding and Entry Monument Improvements project in California. The document identifies the current and proposed locations for the Roadrunner sculpture by Allen Root, which is being relocated as part of the broader wayfinding initiative. The Roadrunner is currently situated at the intersection of Fred Waring Drive and Washington Street and will be moved to the northeast corner of the Desert Willow roundabout on Desert Willow Drive. This relocation supports the City's adopted Wayfinding and Monument Master Plan, which aims to establish coordinated, clearly visible entry monuments and wayfinding signage throughout the community to improve navigation, reinforce City identity, and support safe movement. The project was issued as a Request for Proposal on February 27, 2026, with a proposal response deadline of March 27, 2026, at 3:30 p.m., with questions due by March 18, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
The City of Palm Desert is seeking qualified firms to deliver a Design Build Agreement for the comprehensive Wayfinding and Entry Monument Improvements project. Evaluation criteria are weighted as follows: project cost (55 percent), technical qualifications and experience (15 percent), compliance with technical specifications (10 percent), safety record and safety program (10 percent), and project execution plan including testing and commissioning (10 percent). Local vendor preference is available to businesses maintaining a physical location within Lakeland Electric's service territory for at least twelve consecutive months prior to proposal submission. Respondents must submit proof of insurance including commercial general liability of $1,000,000, business automobile liability of $1,000,000, excess liability of $2,000,000, and workers' compensation at statutory limits, along with required certifications including a Hold Harmless Indemnification Agreement, Human Trafficking Affidavit, drug-free workplace certification, and suspension and debarment certification. Electronic submission is required through the City's OpenGov e-Procurement Portal.
