About this file

This document is a pre-bid meeting agenda for the Richneck Elementary School Security Vestibule and Office Alterations project for Newport News Public Schools in Newport News, Virginia. The project consists of constructing a one-story, 900 SF vestibule addition at the main entrance and making interior alterations to the adjacent main entrance, lobby, corridor, and administrative offices. Key dates include bid submittal by March 7, 2024, work commencement on June 13, 2024, substantial completion by August 19, 2024, and final completion by September 18, 2024. There are no phasing requirements, but the owner has prioritized the project schedule, quality of work, and early procurement of long-lead equipment. The contractor will be responsible for installation of a new main electrical distribution panel provided by the owner, which requires coordination with the utility company and provision of temporary power during the outage.

The bid must be accompanied by a bid bond, and bidders must acknowledge all addenda, be registered in Virginia, and submit a completed IFB document. Liquidated damages are set at $1,000 per calendar day for each completion milestone and up to $2,000 per calendar day after final completion. Work under separate contracts includes security systems, fire alarm, telecommunications, audio-visual, and HVAC replacement by another contractor. The owner will handle removal, storage, and reinstallation of existing furniture and equipment, and no work is allowed inside the building during specified holidays.
