About this file

This is a Questions and Responses document for Request for Quotation (RFQ) 428534 issued by the Oakland Fire Department in California to procure Class A and Class B uniform attire for a three-year period with two optional one-year renewal extensions. The RFQ addresses inquiries regarding specific product specifications and requirements for uniform items including leather steel toe boots certified to NFPA 1977 standards, LION brand leather fire boots with identified model numbers, Class B uniform shirts in specified polyester/wool blends or 100% wool from vendors such as Flying Cross and Elbeco in midnight navy, Class B uniform pants in midnight navy 100% wool, and Class A double-breasted dress coats in navy. The solicitation requires customization services including patch application, service stars, and wrist band application. Responses indicate that product samples are preferred for any bidder proposing alternate brands or equivalent products not explicitly specified in the RFQ.

The document clarifies that local vendor presence is preferred, though vendors located outside the immediate area may participate with online store capabilities or shipping arrangements. Regarding fittings for uniform sizing and alterations, the city prefers a centralized location where fire department personnel can visit during on-duty or off-duty hours rather than requiring vendor travel to individual fire stations. No previous bid tabulation or pricing history is available for reference. The RFQ represents a standard competitive solicitation with complete documentation provided, and no additional supporting materials beyond those attached to the original request are required from interested bidders.
