About this file
This is a Scope of Work and Specifications document issued by the City of Oakland Public Works Department, Parks & Trees Division for the procurement of two prefabricated steel storage containers with custom modifications. The containers are to be delivered and installed at two separate locations: Lakeside yard at 666 Bellevue Avenue, Oakland, CA 94610, and Joaquin Miller Park at 3950 Sanborn Drive, Oakland, CA 94602. Each 20-foot by 8-foot heavy-gauge steel container must include a custom interior expanded-metal security cage installed five feet from the rear wall, weather-resistant ventilation, and interior lighting capable of reading storage labels. The containers are intended to support maintenance operations by providing secure storage for tools, personal protective equipment, and operational gear while addressing increasing concerns regarding burglaries and vandalism in the area. The City's desired installation timeframe is late summer 2026 through early fall 2026, and vendors must identify their anticipated lead time and installation schedule in their response. Questions regarding the solicitation are due by Monday, July 27, 2025, at 2:00 PM. The City intends to award an approximately two-year contract for an amount not to exceed $50,000 to a single vendor based on the lowest, most responsive, and responsible bid, with no minimum amount guaranteed.
Vendors must provide pricing for the complete turnkey solution, including fabrication, delivery, installation, security cage construction, ventilation, lighting, and all labor, equipment, materials, and incidentals necessary to complete the work. The security cage must be constructed using 1/8-inch steel tubing, 1/8-inch steel angle iron, and ½-inch #18 expanded metal, with a locking door equipped with a multi-point locking system and hardened steel coverings over lock hasps to prevent cutting, grinding, or tampering. Lighting options include either rechargeable DC-powered systems or lighting powered from an external AC electrical source. No information regarding set-asides, incumbent contractors, specific funding sources, or renewal options is provided in the scope of work document.
