About this file
This is an application document for the Climate Resilient Farming Program – Round 10, administered by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets in partnership with New York State Soil and Water Conservation Districts. The program accepts applications for matching grants to fund climate change mitigation and adaptation projects implementing Agricultural Best Management Practice Systems on New York State farms. Eligible applicants are County Soil and Water Conservation Districts, referred to as Project Sponsors, who may submit applications on behalf of one or multiple farms with no limit on the number of applications per sponsor. Four distinct project tracks are available: Livestock Management focusing on manure, methane management, and precision feed management (Track 1); Adaptation and Resiliency (Track 2); Healthy Soils NY addressing soil health and agroforestry systems (Track 3); and Agricultural Forest Management (Track 4). Applications must be submitted by November 23, 2026, with projects ranked within their respective tracks to generate four separate ranked lists for program approval.
Proposals may request up to an 80 percent grant from New York State, with the remaining 20 percent as a local match. Funding is derived from the New York State Environmental Protection Fund as allocated through the State budget. Successful proposals will be evaluated based on their merit in mitigating agriculture's climate impact through greenhouse gas emission reductions and carbon sequestration, assisting farms in adapting to current and projected climate effects specific to New York State, demonstrating clear need or opportunity with adequate scope of work, and providing evidence of local support and cost effectiveness. The program prioritizes projects that address both immediate climate challenges and long-term adaptation strategies informed by New York State climate projections.
