About this file

This document is an architectural plan for the pump house demolition project for the City of Duluth, Georgia, which acquired a decommissioned water booster pumping station building from Gwinnett County Water Resources. The project scope includes the removal and proper disposal of pumping equipment, above-grade piping, and conduits; installation of blind flanges on exposed pipes at typical locations; filling and bulkheading of floor pipes with concrete flush to the existing floor; removal of existing electrical transformers and installation of new transformer equipment; and removal of electrical switchgear, VFDs, control panels, and associated conduit and wiring. The plans specify coordination requirements with Georgia Power for transformer deenergization, removal of service entrance cables, and new transformer location installation. The project also requires removal of the main switchboard, pump starters, pump motors, all associated cables and conduits, and electrical equipment pads, with refinishing of the damaged floor.

The plans detail specific electrical work including the removal of MCC feeder cables from the existing 400-ampere feeder circuit breaker in the main switchboard, with installation of a new 400-ampere circuit breaker in a NEMA-3R enclosure rated as service entrance equipment. The existing main control center is to remain in service. The demolition plan identifies multiple work areas marked on 27 sheets (labeled 01 through I-4) covering various sections including architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical components. Coordination with the power company is mandatory for deenergizing transformers, removing existing service entrance cables, and establishing the new transformer location. The plans indicate typical removal work at five distinct locations within the facility involving piping of varying sizes, including 30-inch, 18-inch, 48-inch, and 14-inch diameter installations.
