About this file
This is Addendum #1 to the Request for Bids (RFB930600-01) issued by the Iowa Department of Administrative Services for the DOC CCF Metal Roof Replacement project at the Clarinda Correctional Facility. The addendum, dated September 13, 2023, modifies and supplements the original bidding documents dated August 18, 2023, and must be acknowledged by bidders on the bid form to avoid disqualification. Key clarifications address site logistics including dumpster responsibilities, material storage requirements, equipment protocols, and the provision of facility resources such as restroom facilities, a gator and wagon for equipment hauling, and coordination procedures for material craning. The addendum specifies that demolition dumpsters shall be contractor-provided while metal scrap dumpsters shall be owner-provided, with metal roofing and trim to be cut into approximately 22-foot lengths. Contractors must remove boom lifts, scissor lifts, gang boxes, and small tools from the fenced area daily unless equipment has lockable dead man switches or removed batteries, and any scaffolding must be erected, dismantled, and removed daily.
The addendum introduces significant specification modifications to Section 07 6100 regarding manufacturer oversight and warranty requirements. These additions mandate that the roofing manufacturer provide a qualified technical representative to observe installation periodically to ensure compliance with warrantable details and that the same representative conduct warranty inspection reports in years 2, 5, 10, and 15 following substantial completion at no additional cost to the owner. For warranty issues identified during these inspections, the manufacturer must furnish all materials and labor to restore the roof to watertight condition. The addendum also approves Petersen Pac-Clad Pac T-250 as a substitution option and clarifies that material storage within the fenced area is limited to same-day use, with a designated lay-down area provided in the southwest corner of the parking lot outside the fence. All addendum content must be acknowledged by bidders and forms part of the binding contract documents.
