About this file

This document is a question-and-answer file related to a Request for Proposal (RFP) issued by the Arkansas Public Broadcasting System (AR-PBS) to obtain a contract for a master control broadcast automation system and related support services. The RFP is a re-solicitation of S000000059 and seeks a contractor to provide a live log feature, BXF integration, real-time log changes, 7-day automation look-ahead, and real-time content status and as-run confirmation. AR-PBS is seeking these capabilities to support their 60-day programming template and cloud-based content delivery workflow.

The RFP is being issued by the State of Arkansas, and the awarded contract will be for the AR-PBS broadcast automation system. No specific details are provided on quantities, response dates, award dates, or contract terms. However, the responses indicate AR-PBS has specific requirements around live logging, integration, and automation capabilities to support their programming and content delivery processes.

QUESTION

NBR QUESTION SUBJECT QUESTION TEXT ANSWER

Reference 2.3 Prospective Contractor Minimum Qual. 2.7 BAS Automation Requirements, B-Live logging

Myers Protrack: Today the "Live Log Feature " only addresses the source of an airing program. This has been done for only one Joint Master Control Company in the US.

Deeper Integration would require detailed discussion about the specific features required and custom development.

BXF Integration Can Provide:

-Auto mapped schedules, Dub lists, Purge lists.

-Auto/Live As Run (It will be sent after an event plays) -Media Updates reported back to Myers when any Server content is Added/Updated/Deleted Will Current BXF function available meet your requirements?

AR-PBS would like to take advantage of the features offered through both BXF and Live Log. Presently AR-PBS works on a 24hr automation log file and we can only load two logs or 48hr in advance.

That makes it hard to make any log changes through traffic when you are withing 48 -24 hours to air time. Appending or reloading logs has always had a high risk of failure with our existing Harris automation system. PBS works 60 days ahead with their programing template and they typically have all of the content available to download via the SiX, cloud based file delivery system, 30 day in advance. To take advantage of this new workflow AR-PBS would like to be able to have a an automation log that allows a live 7 day look ahead and can be updated and amended through Protrack in real time. Any changes made in Protrack should ripple through to the automation log in close to real time. During the 7 day look ahead the automation in conjunction with the MAM and Protrack should start pulling content from SiX, archive and other source locations onto the playout server to fill the log. "Live Logging" for AR-PBS means being able to make close to real time changes in Protrack and have them flow through to the automation log. Not being limited to load fixed automation logs for 24hr periods. Having an automation log that has a real time 7 day look ahead and can display the status of content download and availability as the MAM and Protrack delivers material to the playout server. Real time "as run" confirmation as content is played and notification if material is skipped or fails to play. This is the expectation of how AR-PBS would like 'Live Logging" to work with the new PBS SiX download and file based delivery workflow. We know this is a real scenario because AR-PBS has seen this functionality in operation at other PBS network stations.
