Questions & Answers Set #2 Boiler Safety Valves
27-350SOS-PHYSE-B-54142
1. The current required delivery date is “as soon as possible, but no later than December 31, 2026.”
The delivery deadline will be extended to the end of January, but that is the latest we can accommodate. This change has been made in the RFQ that will become the contract.
2. Will valves from other manufacturers (for example Emerson Crosby H-Series with ISOFLEX or FLEXI-DISC seat designs, or Flowserve Farris Section I steam safety valves) be accepted as equivalent if they meet all other stated requirements (ASME Section I & VIII, spring-loaded, steam service, 4" Class 300 RF inlet × 6" Class 150 RF outlet, required capacities, and certification dating)? Is the proprietary “Thermodisc” name mandatory, or will a functionally equivalent flexible / pressure-assisted seat design be acceptable?
Valve seat must be of a thermodisc design to allow proper seating during live testing. Functional equivalent not acceptable.
3. Please confirm that the valves must carry current ASME V (and UV if applicable) stamps with at least five years remaining until the next required recertification. ASME V stamp required. This is a HP natural gas steam boiler. Valves are required to be recertified every 5 years by the state fire marshal’s office. This required removal and being sent off to be rebuilt and recertified.
4. Are there any additional Illinois-specific stamping, tagging, or documentation requirements beyond the ASME and National Board requirements?
Illinois does not require any specific stamping/certifications beyond ASME and BPVC requirements (Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code).
