About this file
This is a Combined Synopsis/Solicitation for the acquisition of one laboratory microtome to be used by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Cancer Institute (NCI) Bladder Cancer Section. The microtome will prepare thin, reproducible tissue sections from paraffin-embedded specimens for histologic evaluation, immunohistochemistry, and tissue-based analyses related to research on mechanisms of resistance to antibody-drug conjugates in bladder tumors. The equipment must provide precise and reproducible section thickness control, stable specimen orientation, a secure blade holder with safety features, and ergonomic design suitable for repeated laboratory use. The Government intends to award a Firm-Fixed-Price contract with a period of performance from September 11, 2026, through September 10, 2027, and reserves the right to exercise options to extend the contract term.
Proposals are due by September 8, 2026, and will be evaluated using a Lowest Price Technically Acceptable (LPTA) criterion. Offerors must submit technical capability documentation describing relevant experience and approach, a total price proposal, and active System for Award Management (SAM) registration. The contract is for commercial products prepared under FAR Parts 12 and 13 with no set-aside. The vendor is expected to complete delivery and unloading services within one business day of a pre-scheduled delivery date. Questions must be submitted to Abba Yousefi-Rad at abba.yousefi-rad@nih.gov by September 8, 2026. This solicitation is posted on SAM.gov.

The Government intends to award a Firm-Fixed-Price contract for the following requirement:
The purpose of this project is to acquire one laboratory microtome for preparation of thin, reproducible tissue sections from paraffin-embedded specimens used in the Bladder Cancer Section's research. The microtome will support histologic evaluation, immunohistochemistry, and other tissue-based analyses needed to study mechanisms of resistance to antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) in bladder tumors. A dedicated microtome is justified to enable timely, consistent in-house sectioning of valuable research specimens, reduce dependence on shared equipment or external sectioning, and improve experimental reproducibility and workflow efficiency.
The microtome must provide precise and reproducible section thickness control suitable for routine histology and research applications using paraffin-embedded tissue. The unit should provide stable specimen orientation and controlled sectioning, a secure blade holder with appropriate safety features, and an ergonomic design suitable for repeated laboratory use. Reliable mechanical performance is essential to produce intact, uniform tissue sections for downstream staining, imaging, and quantitative analysis.
🔹 3. Period of Performance (POP) The anticipated period of performance is:
· 09/11/26 - 09/10/27 The Government reserves the right to exercise options in accordance with FAR 52.217-9, Option to Extend the Term of the Contract.
