1. Stevedoring Capable - Are lifting eyes for each unit a requirement?

Response: Not all units require lifting eyes. Some units require lifting eyes to assist in moving unit if recovery is necessary. Forklifts designated for those areas will have lifting pads/eyes requested in the SOW.

2. Cabs – the solicitation only states Forklift should be capable of operation in wet weather and does not state “yes” or “no” to cab question. Are cabs required? If so, please specify which type of cab is required (i.e. solid top, removable, zip-up, etc.)

Response: All forklifts must have a safety cab as a minimum. The 15K, 22K and 36K forklifts will need to have a solid cab with doors to allow storage outdoors when interior space is limited. No other coverings are necessary on the smaller units as they are stored indoors.

3. Section 3.2 - Are electric trucks to be used in wet weather including rain with Solid Pneumatic tires?

Response: Electric forklifts are dedicated for indoor use. In rare instances, exposure to outside weather conditions may occur only when transporting its load to another building. Tire type does not matter in this situation.

4. There is a declaration of Incidental Damage resulting in Bent forks, bent LBR, Shredded Tires, etc. will not constitute a Contract claim for repayment. The way it reads, no abuse damage will be covered under the contract. Please clarify.

Response: Clause 52.228-8 has been added to the solicitation via Amendment, and this section of the SOW has been updated via amendment.

5. Please clarify tire specifications for each forklift. All say solid or foam filled, but do not specify whether to provide cushion tires or solid rubber.

Response: Cushion type tires are required for all forklifts.

6. 3.2 – We typically discourage use of electric trucks in the rain, but understand that it’s necessary from time to time. Options range from a clear cap on the overhead guard, to a lexan (poly) windshield, to a vinyl zip-up enclosure, or a full cab with wipers and AC. Please clarify what the cab requirement is.

Response: See response for question 3.

7. Battery - The quality (and price) can vary greatly on industrial batteries. Can the battery manufacturer be included in the spec, or at least the requirement of a “battery with a 5 year warranty”?

Response: Please provide a battery that meets or exceeds the specification. As a reminder, the contractor is responsible for all maintenance of the machines during the lease period.

8. For the 6,000 lb (A) type forklifts, is dual fuel acceptable vice diesel powered? See Doosan G30E5 or Toyota 8FGU30 for full spec sheets.

Response: Diesel or Gas/Propane dual fuel unit is acceptable for these forklifts.

9. What is the estimated monthly usage for these machines in hours?

Response:

3.1 3,000 lb. 30 hrs. / month

3.2 4,000lb. 60 hrs. / month

3.3 6,000lb. Gas 90 hrs. / month

3.4 6,000lb. Electric 60 hrs. / month

3.5 15,500lb. 15 hr. / month

3.6 22,000lb. 8 hrs. / month

3.7 36,000lb. 8 hrs. / month

3.8 3,000lb. Electric 60 hrs. / month
