SOW Reference Question Response

1. SOW Section C.7.B

The SOW reference states the floats must operate to 2000m, but

Attachment C (Price Schedule) CLIN 002 calls out Solo 2-X profiling floats, which are rated to 1200m. What is the maximum depth rating required of each type of float?

NAVO is aware of the 1200m standard rating of most standard model profiling floats, however, past experience with these platforms has proven that they are capable of operating at 2000m when pre-programmed which meets government requirements.

2. SOW Section C.8.D

SOW Section C.8.D: The SOW reference requires compliance with

FIPS 140-2 for encryption. -Are there any additional requirements or guidance available on preferred implementations of FIPS 140-2?

What will be the procedure for assessing compliance? Does the

FIPS-140-2 wncrytion requirement include a data rest, i.e. is it just communications or do we need to encrypt the logs on board?

FIPS 140-2 will only be requested per order upon demand and if necessary. FIPS 140-

2 includes Data at Rest (DAR) as well as communications. Further guidance and specifications can be found at, https://csrc.nist.gov/projects/cryptographic-module-validation-program/standards

3.

Provide specification requirements regarding depth settings, sampling frequencies, data formats, and ballasting specifications.

Referencing sections C.5.D, these details can only be provided at the time that each order is placed due to emerging requirements. See section

C.7.B and C.7.E regarding depth settings, section C.7.P regarding sampling frequency, and section C.5.B regarding ballasting for now. The vendor data format must easily be convertible to the BUF-R format, however.
