About this file

This document contains questions and answers regarding a solicitation for the lease of ten 100kW emergency diesel generators. The solicitation is from the Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command. One question seeks clarification on the scope of work, which requires the generators to be capable of simultaneously outputting 480VAC 3-phase power and 208/120VAC 1-phase power. The answer refers to a section of the performance work statement requiring the generators to include a float-type battery charger powered by an external 120VAC single phase power source, to not be damaged when the generator is running. No other details regarding the required products or services, pricing, or timelines are provided in this exchange.

Solicitation Q & A’s

Question 1:

“Looking for clarification on the below scope description. If a generator is set at 480V, where is the 208/120VAC 1-phase needed? By using the plug-in outlets on the generator? If not, than where? Please advise.

Thanks

1.4.Scope: The DG shall be capable of reliably supplying electrical power with electrical ratings as follows: minimum kilowatt (kW) power ratings of 100kW, and a multi-voltage panel capable of simultaneous outputs of 480VAC 3-phase and 208/120VAC (nominal) 1-phase. The neutral bus shall be isolated from the DG’s ground and comprised of components listed/labeled by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL).”

Answer 1:

Please refer to section 5.6 of the Performance Work Statement:

“5.6 Provide a float-type battery charger integral to the DG and fed from an external 120VAC, single phase power source, designed so it will not be harmed by remaining connected while the DG is running.”
