Bridge Crane

Question and Answer (Q&A) Sheet

The Government will be posting all questions and answers from Solicitation N4523A18R1313 on a series of Q&A documents. The Q&A documents will be posted to the government point of entry weekly throughout the length of the solicitation period. Please be aware that any questions asked and responses to those questions will be posted to the Q&A documents, the government requests that all questions be of non-proprietary nature and allow for public dissemination.

Question 1: What is the amount of lay down space allotted?

Answer 1: Approximately 100' x 50' for the crane removal and installation. The Government will accommodate a smaller area for job boxes and smaller support equipment that will be required for the duration on site. Contractor is to provide those dimensions and list of equipment/tools.

Question 2: Time allotted for lay down space?

Answer 2: This would be dependent on the contractor's on-site requirements as outlined in their schedule.

Question 3: What is the maximum floor loading?

Answer 3: Building 107 has an allowable floor loading of 4000 psf. This value should be used for estimating purposes only. Specific lift information regarding the type, capacity and configuration of equipment to be used, location of use and loading conditions under which it is used must be approved by the local facilities engineering department.

Question 4: Will the Government provide the 12,500 lbs. of test weight?

Answer 4: Yes. Section 1.6.9.1 Field Acceptance Test states that the Government will provide all test weight and rigging gear.

Question 5: In section 2.2.5, the noise measurement shall be taken as close to the trolley as possible while standing on one of the bridge girder walkways, however this decibel reading is normally taken at operator’s level.

Answer 5: Please see the revised solicitation paragraph 2.2.5.

Question 6: Is there an existing rail survey?

Answer 6: Please see the attached revised Technical Specification Paragraph 1.6.3.1.

Question 7: Will the Government increase the page limits?

Answer 7: Yes. Each tab of the proposal shall not exceed 20 pages.
