About this file
This document is a Sources Sought notice for the procurement of direct digital controllers (DDCs) that are compatible with and can integrate with the Johnson Controls, Inc. (JCI) DDC system in order to connect to a Smart Grid system. The purpose is to determine what commercially available DDCs manufactured by various companies can meet the cybersecurity requirements and interface with the JCI DDC system.
The notice requests that interested parties provide information on their DDC models, including model numbers, product descriptions, controller applications, communications protocols, and manufacturer technical data sheets. Respondents are also asked to identify 1-3 previous projects where they successfully configured non-JCI DDCs to integrate with the JCI DDC system and meet cybersecurity requirements for connecting to a Smart Grid system. Project details such as customer contact information, narrative descriptions, contract numbers, and values are requested. This information will be used to assess the available products and vendors that can fulfill the requirements of the upcoming solicitation for Direct Digital Controllers Utilizing Johnson Controls, Inc.

Attachment 2: Technical Information
1. Direct Digital Controllers Technical Info. (2 pages Maximum):
Provide a list of commercially available direct digital controllers, manufactured by your organization, for which Johnson Controls Inc. (JCI) Direct Digital Control (DDC) System has been utilized or integrated with to meet cybersecurity requirements in conjunction with and in order to connect to a Smart Grid system. Similarly, facilities requiring new integrated industrial control systems (ICS), modern DDC equipment and software will be installed and will connect via fiber optic network to the Smart Grid system. New DDC controllers and systems installed must be 100% compatible with the DDC at the front end. Existing DDC system controllers for buildings included on a project must seamlessly interface with an existing front end or upgraded accordingly. The cybersecurity portion of this project is to ensure the tenants of C-I-A (confidentiality, availability, and integrity) of the Facility Related Control Systems
(FRCS) through cybersecurity controls, to acquire Authority to Operate (ATO) to include commissioning, monitoring and auditing. The brand name description is essential to the activity’s cybersecurity requirements for FRCS and in support of an existing Smart Grid program, thereby precluding consideration of a product manufactured by any other company. Include the following information for each controller:
a. Model Number, Catalog Number, Code Number, or equivalent model designation
b. Product Description
c. Controller Application (please specify): ‘Network Automation Engine’ or ‘Network Control
Module’ or ‘Building Level Controller’ or ‘Zone Controller’ or ‘Field Equipment Controller’ or
‘Other’
d. Communications Protocol: ‘BACnet’ and/or ‘Modbus’ etc.
e. Manufacturer's technical data sheets.
2. Experience (3 pages Maximum):
Identify one (1) to three (3) installed systems by your company where JCI DDC System has been used to successfully configure non-JCI digital controllers presented under item 1 above, to meet cybersecurity requirements in conjunction with and in order to connect to Smart Grid. For each project, provide the customer point of contact including name, phone number, and email, and a narrative description of the product/services provided by your organization. Also, provide project title, project location (city/state), procurement contract number, and contract value, if available.
