Perform ditch maintenance on both sides of RR228 from HW45 to HW161 xing’s in the needed areas 3,500 LF (start with the worst areas and work until 3,500 LF is achieved as directed by COR).

On RR229 track:

At RR229A turnout remove and junk switch stand and connecting rod.

Remove and save both switch points and switch rods, frog, both frog guard rails (re-assemble), all switch and hook plates and gage plate, Government to keep. Remove the curved closure rail, the turnout running rail, and the bent stock rail. Leave the straight stock rail and main running rail in place install 20 each tie plates on existing ties. Re-use existing joint bars for rail replacement work, note there are bars that have been torch modified, scrap any torched bars. Move the 46.5’ straight closure rail back to fill gap where frog was removed, then install 35.5’ rail cut from the 39’ rail removed from turnout side frog heel to fill gap at switch point, requires cropping 10” off of remaining rail ahead of switch point (provide

12 each 1” track bolts. Requires removing and re-installing (1 CY) of stone at tunnel ped xing.

In RR229A track, demo 263 LTF from switch point to current end of track. Remove and Government keep all good 9020 rail and F&OTM, use required amount at RR229 tail between 2TR230 and steel bump then haul remaining to

SECTION 01 11 00 Page 7 of 14 section lot and stack/palletize including 2 pair 9040/9020 comp bars bolted together as pairs. Between switch ties and stone xing remove 19 junk and 24 relay ties. At xing uncover 16 LF (3 CY) of stone road, remove an estimated

10 junk ties. Between xing and end of track remove 18 junk and 38 relay

On RR230 track:

Note the 62 salvaged relay grade ties saved from RR229A track demo work are allowed as GFCI to make up for errors in counts, locations for installation will be selected by government as work progresses. They are to be installed in the open track areas being mixed in with new. All remaining relay ties not used on this project are to be hauled to section lot and neatly stacked. An additional 150 CY of excavation and 373 LF of SAD are also allowed to be done as directed by the COR.

Between where are RR230 turnout was and security gate replace 23 grade

At the gate remove 2 CY of stone for the marking and replacement of 3 grade ties and SAD, then re-install stone to just below bottom of gates so gates can be opened.

Between the gate and the road xing replace 83 grade ties and 18 each

1" track bolts.

For the xing: starting at end of low rail (on RR228 side) remove 13 grade ties (3 are to be re-laid at edge of this xing). Saw cut and remove asphalt section 13' wide x 50' long x 1' deep (24 CY).
